The Malibu dealer called my bluff, and I may have to buy a new VLX! Still need to shave some cash despite the killer deal they're giving me. Can I get as good or better pricing on aftermarket stereo( only want 2 tower speakers), and lights? The MSRP on the Sony 6 kickers in boat, plus 550w amp, 2 Bullet Tower speakers and 6 lights is $3200.

Yes, you can what you want for a great deal less than $3,200....wow, they really try to nail people on the accessories!

Get rid of the lights, and save $500-$750. Get a rechargable Q-Beam instead for now. You can always add lights later.

DIY will be much cheaper, but just will require a little elbow grease on your part. If you have a stereo shop install it all you may get a bit closer to the price Malibu quotes you. The labor on that stuff is pretty steep.

Yes, my experience with the sony deck from malibu wasn't the best. If you end up adding remotes for the deck, I had horrible luck with the sony remotes. The deck wasn't too bad, but my remotes screwed with everything. Thankfully my dealer replaced entire deck and remotes to my choice without cost after numerous failures on remotes.

If your ordering the boat, do not pay for factory speakers or amp. Just ensure the boat is wired it. Buy aftermarket and get better gear for less money. I bought my VLX off the floor and it came with the factory Sony headunit, remotes, and 4 X-plod speakers. No problem with the head unit but the transom remote shorted out so neither remote would work. It was fixed under waranty but what a pain it is to use the head unit due to it's location.

The Sony speakers, or the new Kickers for that matter can be bought at Best Buy for a fraction of the cost. If your going to spend that kind of money on the speakers you can do better.

Even though I don't like those sony speakers I would get the "stereo prep" option that includes installation of the 4 speakers. If you don't you will need to pull the windshield and install the speakers in the dash which is not fun.
