Has anyone tried using some of the high effeceiency pro audio subs, coated in "the wet look" ? not the mid range drivers.

I've got a JL 12w6v2 under there and it slams hard with about 450 watts rms.

I would say JL W6 or if you're crazy a W7

If money is not a factor there is not much out there that will beat a W7 that is powered correctly. I run 3 of them in my Super Air, one under the drivers side and two on the passengers side in sealed boxes with 1600 watts going to each one. It will make your eyeballs shake literally.

CAR, that's a pretty bold statement.....you put close to 1600 watts to any sub that can handle that kind of power and it will do the same thing.

Ill back up CAR. Ya its a bold statment and Im sure CAR is not trying to be a jack a$$ or anything its just his opinion and he has 3 of them . I pretty much have the same opinion but I have 4 of them But because of the title of this thread I wouldnt normaly post in it because any thread with THE BEST in it is bound to get blanket statments in it that ruffel feathers like what mabey CAR did to Sam. So trying to get back on track and offer some advice I will ask a question and then give my opinion. AJ: Are you looking for somthing that just pounds or somthing that is more a sound quality sub. IMO Some subs are louder and offer more bass with less accuracy or SQ and others subs are not as loud but are more accurate and offer tighter cleaner bass. Depending on what you looking 4 there is a ton of diffrent sub/amp combos to choose.

I would guess I am looking for SQ. I haven't had a sub in even my car since high school (almost 15yrs ago) and I had 2 fosgate 12's with a fosgate punch amp back then. I think I like the W6, putting one W6 in what amp would you consider?

I have heard Alumapro are a good speaker, my buddy just put a 10 in his boat powered by a 600 w amp and it rocks

Sam- It wasn't a statement it was a fact, there isn't much out there that can beat a W7 that is powered correctly. It is clean and it humps with a lot of power and I am running them in sealed boxes which is what he asked about. Never said anything about it being the best.

A JL W6 is a very good sub in all aspects. Its loud with good SQ. Not the best out there but a great all around sub. A good amp for the W6 is JL slash 500/1 I think the W6 series are rated 400w rms. Beware JL is on the high end of the pricing scale.

Thanks KG..

TC Sounds are unbelievable. You do not even hear people talking about JL Audio subs on the car audio front anymore. TC Sounds are order direct only and when you call them they will spend hours on the phone with you designing and mapping out your system. I have been a JL Audio beiever forever and they still sound good, but the TC stuff is very nice quality for less money because you are not paying a middle man or for a name brand. Check them out!

Amen, James.

adrenaline, if you haevn't figured it out yet, this forum is very bias towards JL audio.

Some I would reccomend, Trio, Massive Audio (there are alot better than they used to be) even kicker.

Spend a few hours on a car audio forum and see what those guys are talking about....it seems like JL gets about as much attention as a I/O on this site.

Okay thanks...what about amps?? Good amps for a medium price (not looking for the best of the best)

Kicker, Memphis, Fosgate. The kickers and fosgates are very underrated. The memphis are also good amps just don't make much more than rated power in my experience.

I like JBL GTI's they sound phenominal and are really really tight clean bass while not being overly expensive. Here is a link to them http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=31 28 if you want to check them out. You will need to throw some pretty good power at them though.
