I'm rebuilding a 1983 supra rider that has a chrysler 440 in it pretty neat boat but while I'm replacing the stringers and the floor is still out I was thinking I should build in a ballast system but don't know where to get tanks and where in the boat I should put the tanks front back middle

Have you looked at the make-a-wake.com system.

Front, middle, and back . . . When relating relative volumes between front and back, go 40-45% front, and 60-55% back. Put as much as you can, in the middle. I'm not sure how much weight that particular boat can handle, though. Fun project, good luck.

I posted a diagram of my Toyota Epic underfloor ballast system in this thread. The tanks are under the floor and outside the stringers. They run 2/3 the length of the boat and must not be very deep because the system only holds 680 lbs of water. The main advantage is that it is below the waterline and CG so the boat handles well when loaded up. I'm still going to supplement with V drive sacks and the underseat bow sack this spring.

If I were doing what you are doing, I think I would glass in tanks rather than try to find ones that will fit in that space. Probably cheaper and you will get more weight in there.
