I'm looking to get a new board/binding setup coming this spring. I had a hyperlite premier 141 and I loved it for air tricks, I can load and get a really good launch off the water with it, but I broke the board. So, I borrowed a friend's LF 138 substance, and I hated it. I couldn't get a good load for air tricks off of the water at all. I'm interested in the slingshot boards, but I'm wondering if they are any good for air tricks on the cable (launching off the water NOT just kickers). If anyone could shed some light, I'd appreciate it.

There is a guy at TSR who rides the slingshot boards almost daily. He does all of the air tricks and hits all of the rails/kickers. Supposedly it is the only board that has lasted him more than 2 weeks. He went all summer without breaking one.

do you know by chance if he's riding a recoil or a response?

I believe you're referring to Josh Wright. I believe the whole first board to last him more than 2 weeks was a little sarcastic...maybe 2 months. Anyway he rides the recoil and kills it on the cable. He constantly hits sliders and hasn't broken his board. He loves slingshot.

A good cable rider rider tried my Recoil on the cable the other day and loved it. He nailed all his usual big-air tricks and said the landings were way kinder than usual. Feels great to me but I'm rubbish so my opinion isn't worth much

Last year Josh rode the recoil but for 08 he is going to ride the response.

cool thanks for the info, I'd love to demo them both so I can choose one, but I don't think that's going to be possible around here.

The Response is much faster rail to rail and thus I would guess better for cable.

I ride the Recoil on the wake, and the response on the cable. I am not into air tricks, but the slingshot set up was a huge hit out at the TSR. All the workers were riding them!

Go to the cable, take your fins off, and ride one around hitting sliders and pressing. Its like being at a snowboard park.

Anyone have an idea of whether the response or the recoil is better for air tricks?
