Moving heater to make room for sub/box

I have an 03 SAN and I'm thinking about yanking the heater to make room for a sub box like I have seen a few others do on here under the helm. Cut out the hump, re-glass, etc to make room. My question revolves around moving the heater core. At first I was tempted just to get rid of it altogether, but then I thought hey, why can't I just relocate it?? I could do without the vent under the dash, but couldnt I mount it somewhere near the back of the boat and just have the one outlet with the flexible hose piece into the passenger compartment? I was thinking of having the outlet on the starboard side by the back seat, just kind of tucked away back in that space.Any thoughts? Im going to post over on Planet nautique as well, but I figured somebody on here has moved their heater core....what do you think?

You can move it anywhere you want it other than the motor compartment because the fan isn't ignition protected. The problem is going to be where you can put it that has access to the water lines without getting in the way of to many other things.

I have two. One on the port side and one on the starboard. Mine are mounted on a board attached to the hull behind the seat backs. It took a little doing to find the spots. Where ever you put the heater you can run a long hose to almost anywhere on the boat. If you install hot tubes then you can have heat anywhere.

No, I was too lazy when I was putting them in. I hooked them up in series. That way the water flows evenly through both and at a slightly lower RPM than if they were in parallel. There is no problem getting good heat out of the second one even if they are both on high. Just make sure you have some drains at the low spot on the water line between the two so that you can winterize easily. I mounted boards on the side of the hull just like is often done with an amp.
