I was snowboarding yesterday up at Bluewood and they don't have much of a terain park or a lot of jumps yet, so I built a small kicker and was going to practice my grabs. I can jump off it fine, but when I try to grab the board, I get all off balance and can't grab it. On the way home I realized I do the same thing wakeboarding. Is it because I'm trying to go to the board instead of pulling my legs up higher to bring the board to me? Any suggestions or drills on how to work on that or which grabs are the easiest to learn??

Thanks!

Jamie

yes, bring the board to you--don't reach down for your board.

Balance is a big deal...obviously. When you leave the jump, try to ollie off of the top. Also, try to keep just a *tad* more weight on your toes when you leave the jump. It's easier to stay balanced that way...I guess you could think of it like ollieing off of a skateboard, since you do that off of your toes.

Good luck!

Bluewood.. I remember that place growing up. It had three lifts back then. The main lift, the T-bar, and then the little one off to the right. How is it now? I stopped going there about 1990. Then had a season pass to Mt. Spokane in 1992-93.

I've heard that Schwietzer is a major resort now too. I haven't been there since about 93 as well. They were all double lifts then.

... Sorry, just remanessing.

Bluewood is probably pretty much exactly the same. They still have the 3 lifts. Skyline, bunny hill, and Triple Nickle. It's pretty good though. They started a terain park the other day, so hopefully adding some more stuff once some more snow comes down. Yea Schweitzer is really nice. Never been there myself but my friend went there last year and said it was amazing. Then again, we are used to pretty small mountains like White Pass and Bluewood. But can't complain. As long as I get to snowboard, I'm happy!
