Shopping for a new cell phone provider. Any comments on the quality of coverage at McClure and Shasta in the Pit and Squaw arms.

I have AT&T and two years ago my signal was terrible in the arms, but great out in the middle. A lot as probably changed in the last two years though. AT&T has the new GSM which I hear is supposed to get great coverage.

Any signal will be terrible up in the arms, but in the middle, I have U.S. Cellular and I had ok reception in the middle... but that was a year and a half ago. plus you can't really beat getting on a promo deal for 1100 minutes, free incoming, free long distance and free nights and weekends all for $20 a month.

Have AT&T GSM - didn't get squat up the Pit arm last labor day. Got occassional reception at the marina, but the rest of the weekend it was dead. I seem to remember that one of my buddy's with maybe Verizon got a signal (could have been Nextel).

I have Verizon and no service there... My buddy was getting very sporatic coverage with his AT&T, but barely ever..

I have AT&T/Cingular service and use a Motorolla V-600. It works great in and around Bridge Bay and in most wide areas of the lake. Sporadic coverage in deep coves. However, I primarily spend my time in the dam area.

A lady at one of the marinas said that the cell phone coverage was terrible last year because of the low water level. I guess its harder for the signal to reach down in the valleys. Made sense to me.

Cell coverage at Shasta...BAH HA HA.

After my third year of going there, I finally gave up the idea of needing a phone unless I wanted to go back to Bridge Bay on a land line.

Lack of cell coverage is one of the main reasons I take houseboating vacations! The office knows I am unreachable that week.
