I have a clarion HU and there is no antenna... theres a cable for one but nothing attached. I still like to listen to my radio along with my ipod, but how do i get better reception out of it? are there powered antennas or something that I can Hide, I really don't want to drill for an antenna?

.......truly nothing beats sirius radio....get a unit . for the few bucks it costs and low monthly fee(you can go month by month then cancel after summer) it is excellent.....over 150 stations any kind of music any time and super clear reception. I didnt believe in them either...why pay for music.....but then it came on my boat and I was really impressed....since where I boat I can only get one station and not clear......oh and no commercials!

I have Sirius & have tried XM in the past. Reception is great as long as we have a view of the southern sky. Many times we'll be riding on Banks Lake or in the Columbia Gorge & have a 1000' tall cliff 1/4 mile to the south & the satellite radio doesn't get squat. Pull out into the middle of the lake more & it'll start working, but then the water conditions could be blown out.

If you just want FM reception, install an antenna. Stash it in your bow somewhere, under the seats or in the gunnels. Mine works fine.

XM and SIRUS are over rated. Try this set up you will get all FM channels no problem

They make powered hide-away or glass mount antennas. They work awesome.

You can even hide teh glass mount ones, and they work pretty good.

What you want to get is a Metra powered antenna. I have one and can get FM stations crystal clear.

Here is a link: http://www.audiooutfitter.com/44ua20/metra/p69849.html

Buy a universal fixed mast antenna from your local parts house and wire-tie it up along the gunwale. This is what you will find from many boat manufactures.
