yeah I picked mine up two weeks ago. i got the saltwater series and am loving it so far, however i don't have much to compare it to as it's my first "real" wakeboard boat. I got it with the 6.0L, 375 hp crusader which is a great motor. I believe mine is actully an '07 because it has white gauges and stainless exhaust tips. it's got lots of room and a deep freeboard. it also might be the best handling V-drive mastercraft makes besides the X-1. i'll post some pics soon.

the white gauges are what come on the salt water series boats! and red comes on all the 06s regular wake boats, so you have an 06!

Matt,
The 07s X series have white gauges also and they do have the stainless exhaust tips. I saw a couple of 07's at my dealer yesterday. Not the X15, but a 45 and a star.

mike, do the 07s stars still have the graffiti graphics?
Old     (roughrivermike)      Join Date: Apr 2006       07-19-2006, 8:06 AM Reply
Matt,
They have 3 options for graphics. They still have graffiti, they have old school, and they have the new switch graphics. The switch team graphics on the X45 that I saw were really nice.
They also changed the tower and added some black on the side. Also says Mastercraft going up the side of the tower. The door going to the bow area is now made of etched aluminum. The X45 I saw now has the same tower as the Xstar.

Don't you all hate it when a new year rolls around and your boat isn't 'new' anymore??

I'm looking forward to see these new MC's!

That tower looks beefy, but I don't know if I like all that black on it...

The tower is very beefy. I kind of like the black. Another change to this tower vs the 06's is that there are no visible weld joints except right up at the top. Maybe they added the black to differentiate the Xstar from the Tige Star. Tige will probably add black next year.

I have to say that I like the look of the black. Leave it to MasterCraft to come up with something different.

Here's a picture of the new X45 Mike was talking about with the switch graphics and the new tower.

They traded. Mastercraft geve tige the picklefork and Tige gave Mastercraft their gelcoat designs. Sounds fair to me.
I am not a fan of the black inserts. That X2 would look sweet if the entire tower was powdercoated black though

The MC are great looking boats, no doubt. I purchased an 06 VLX this year - had it narrowed down to that or the MC X15. In the end the VLX was about $10K less and it seemed to me that you had more ability with the VLX to build a better wake (1200 lbs ballast vs. I think 750 for the X15, plus the power wedge). I'm pretty sure the X15 can't compete with the VLX at all in terms of surf wake, if that's a priority. The MC dealer admitted as much to me when I was shopping and our VLX surf wake is awesome with stock ballast, wedge 1/2 down, and an extra 750 pound sack in the back.

>>wedge 1/2 down

You can incrementally position the power wedge?

Jon-yes the 06' power wedge can be put in a variety of different positions. All earlier models were just a up or down affair

Hey guys, great to hear all the input on the 07 MC boats, I went and looked this past weekend at a new X2, very nice! With that said I actually went to look at the X15 which I am pitting against a VLX. My question is this, for those who have the X2 or X15, does it drive like a barge? The VLX is very nimble and fun to drive with or without a boarder, however I have heard and experienced (albeit on and X45) a very stiff ride in terms of steering. I love both MC and Malibu...HELP!

i have a 06 x-30 and it is awesome. it is fun to drive and puts out a killer wake. it weighs a lot more than the vlx. so it doesnt need as much ballast. take a x-2 x-15 or any of the new ones out and you will be impressed.

Our X2 handles great!! We previously had a direct drive (MC 209) and it would turn on a dime, when people found out we were trading up for a V-drive they all said it wont handle the same... I haven't noticed much of a change to be perfectly honest... We love our X2.

The X2 has INSANE handling for a V-Drive... Took one out last weekend and absolutely rallied it. The boat did not skip a single beat in the handling department...

I've been around boats my whole life, and I think the x2 is up there among the most fun-to-drive...

Kind of OT but our dealer just got an X-15 in that is black in the back and baby blue in the front (switch graphics) with a baby blue trailer. Looks tight as hell.
