For those of you who have a Black Scorpion or a V-drive Merc. and do your own engine maintenance, what engine manual do you use? I called Mercury and they said their manual is specific to the Black Scorpion, but it's $100. The Seloc manual is $34, but it appears to be a composite manual for inboards and sterndrives. Is the Mercruiser manual worth the extra $? I'm not looking to do a complete rebuild or anything, I'm just looking for something more in-depth than the owner's manual and with the correct torque values, clearances, etc. for my specific engine.

I've just got the Seloc and it's a good reference and background but is the Haynes equivalent from cars. The factory manuals tend to be very specific and take less time to get the details for major work.
I have not seen the Merc manual so it might be different than I expect.

I have the Mercruiser shop manual for the Black Scorpion. It is very thorough, and complete.

I would say it's worth having if you do your own maintenance. You'll save way more than the cost of the manual.
My boat has never been back to the dealer or any shop since new (600 hours), I'm sure that's quite a savings from what I hear some are spending on maintenance/repairs.

Haven't used the Seloc manual, so I can't compare the two.
