we went to the indianapolis boat show yesterday, and my dad and I both really like the 2007 Mobius LSV. But we also talked to my dad's friend from Mastercraft and said he'd hook us up with a 2002 Xstar, loaded, for around $40,000. which that is about the same price as a moomba. what do you think? which would you rather have?

That is too high on the xstar. It should be in the low to mid 30s. There was one on here last week for 27k without the trailer.

Haha, like he's doing you a favor at $40000. Bring some vasi if you take that deal! I would rather have a 2002 X-Star though in the price range that Matt stated.

New vs used, warranty vs no warranty. I'd go for the warranty any day. The LSV is a great boat, good size and great wake.

Dont spend 40k on an 02 X-star. You can get a brand new x1 which is the same boat for close to that. Between those 2 get the Moomba.

Spend $5K more and get a brand new X-1. You can always add options later if money is an issue. BTW, the X-1 hull has been around for a long time and is one of the best wake machines ever made. IMO you will do yourself a BIG favor by spending a little more and going with a new X-1, between a new X-1 and a new Mobius, there is no comparison. Plus you get better financing options on a new boat.

That's a pretty good price. My dealer here wouldn't go below that on a 2006 at the end of the year last year on a boat without a stereo.

i would rather have the mobius, ive spent a good bit of time on both boats and for me the mobius is better, the mobius is bigger and comfortably holds a few more people and the surf wake is much better on the LSV, those things are important to me, plus it's new! which is also nice. the old xstar does drive great and has an amazing wakeboard wake but it's too small of a boat for me

Price to Price.....LSV.......Your Dad's friend is raping you on the price of that X-Star. There is a guy on the Mastercraft site that got a 2006 X2 for $44k!! "Well..I'm pulling the trigger on the 06 x-2 Ended up with what I think is a pretty goor deal...44K Listed my boat in the marketplace..." Mobius vs Xstar? kidding me right. Xstar, no question you can get a better price than 40k though for a 2002. You'll be able to sell it at the drop of a hat when the time comes. a 5 year old Mastercraft will feel and ride more solid than a brand new Mobius. The wakeboard wake behind the xstar is so much better... still one of MC's best. The Mobius wake doesn't even rank in the top 6-7 in the skiers choice line up.

^^^^^ Doesn't know the hours, condition, or anything else, but can state "a 5 year old MasterCraft will feel and ride more solid than a brand new Mobius" and the top 6-7 of the Skier's Choice line , what is that all about...? I'd love to know where you got that information from. Can you name the top 6-7 Skier's Choice wakes? Go with the Mobius. Brand new, all the options you want, warranty, and its a excellent boat. By the way, you can't get into an X1 with many options for less than $50k. I got a formal quote when I was shopping and the best the local dealer would do was $52k and that didn't have everything the Mobius that I ordered has. Plus, its considerably smaller.

Here is an example of what you can find. Paul's boat looks nice and is loaded. Great price to. Another thing to consider is total ownership costs. In 3 years the Moomba will be worth 30k and Paul's MC will be worth close to 30k. http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/416098.html?1171981600 (Message edited by polarbill on February 20, 2007)

I would take a stripped down X-1 any day of the week over a loaded Moomba. In fact, I did buy a 1 year old 05 X-2 over a new moomba...

NEED MORE INFO! On both boats. Hours and overall condition of the MC? Options? (both) Engines? (both) Trailer type? Which dealer is better in your opinion? Nobody can possibly answer these questions without this info!

I dont think anyone would pay 40k for that year X Star. So in that deal go with the Mobius or get a better deal on the X Star.

My buddy sold his 02' X-Star for 40k, it was a great deal, for a great boat. Perfectly taken care of, warranty still, absolutly loaded with options and customs. Honestly believe the person that bought it was very happy and willing as well. They did their research and made an educated decision. Price isnt the issue, its what you are getting boat vs. boat. Then you will realize the decision that you should make..... which is not buying the crappy boat. MU-HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

02binvallarta, it's his buddy's xstar. ryan, no need to be a a$$$$.. personally the 07 lsv will give you much more room. moomba's are so much better today than they were a few years ago. rodney asked what engine, all 07 moomba's are 325hp efi and you can upgrade to the new ext 340.

I know, I was illustrating the 21 year old punk a$$ mentality. Let's see what he'd buy when he has to put HIS money where his mouth is instead of his buddies. (Message edited by o2binvallarta on February 20, 2007)

And to add onto insuranceman's post, the upgraded 340hp has the catalyctic (Sp?) converter if I'm not mistakened. The new LSV's are very nice! Skiers Choice has stepped it up on the new Moomba's. They've been increasing the overall feel and quality of the moomba's for a while now and they just keep getting nicer and nicer each year and all the while staying significantly less than the other builders.

Funny, funny stuff. And yes, I am a 21 year old punk a$$.... you sure know me. Was the sarcasm not noted in my previous post? People on here take things so personally. I just read them all the time and laugh. Thanks for the entertainment.

Ryan: It's not that we take things so seriously on here, it's that YOU didn't convey the sarcasm very well. Three different people all read it differently than sarcasm. Alot of young people who don't own boats come on here and knock certain boat brands alot. Don't join those ranks even if you are trying to be sarcastic. I'll keep my opinion of ya high.

buy what YOU want not what everybody else thinks.YOU are the one making the payment!!! Ive went thru 2 different factories ,all use basicaly same fiberglass same carpet same motors ect... Pick what best suits you. Thats why there are so many different brands-so many diff people. Ive owned MC over 10 yr - I love the name and the heritage but going down a diff road now because its what i like- the boat and the price. Will put a centurion against any new boat IMO. M y 2 cents worth - good luck!!

Skiers Choice has made moomba a great boat.. they are nowhere near the moomba of old (the moomba boomerang).. The upgrades that they have made to that boat for 2007 while keeping the price about the same, has been incredible.. the boat is highly underrated. I wont tell you which one to go for, because i dont have enough info, but dont spend that much on an old xstar.. If you go that direction, find a better deal.. But as far as moomba goes, a lot of people in here need to go out and actually ride a newer moomba loaded up with an open mind.. they might actually realize that its a damn good boat

IMO the XLV is the best price point boat out there and LSV is ok. I haven't spent as much time behind them as the XLV. But 40k on a 02 is wack you can find thaat hull for way less, almost half if you look long and hard. 40k for 02 is like prison sex no kiss on the neck or some one ttelling you you,re pritty. With all that said you just can't beat the OG X-Star wake. IMO

I own an 02 X Star and can get mid 30's out of it on trade. I am fairly certain it would sell for 37k to 38k to a private buyer. Great Condition, overly meticulous on maintanance and cleanliness. I am not interested in selling it, but I am always interested in what my boat is worth. I think what region you live in will play a factor on its value as well. IMO.

Go look for a 2006 X-1 with a few hours MCX and ballast for 40k. If you go that route you would have a sick wakeboat but you'd still have more room and storage in the Mobius.
