Mine are bynecessity.
I run a pair of 485's(now 410's) and they don't fit under the tower and being 6'4 I would be nearly eye level with them while standing up.
I wasn't pleased I had to, but it's growing on me.

unless you are going to smash your head on them all the time I wouldn't.

This comes to mind.

Anybody have pics of some towers with speakers mounted above them? I might have to mount mine above and want to get a few ideas so it doesnt look completely stupid if i go that way.

A buddy of mine put his on top and we could see him coming a mile away on the lake. After a month of jokes about it he moved them down.

I really, really, really hate the look of them on top!

Diggs, we all agreed the Lon is/was a stud and that was only about a year ago.

Had 2 of mine on top for one summer then moved down.Kinda looked like those jeeps with big oversized lights on top of roll bar.Only reason to put them on top is if you run outa room below and want even more speakers. What about mounting partway down tube on inside.

I have to have mine on top as well... Had them below to start with but after smacking my head one good time, they got moved quickly. Its growing on me a bit and it makes it much nicer to be able to walk around and not bend over.

I have seen a few on earmarks website that were on the outside on the sides of the tower that I think looked better than on top, may be an option for some of you.
