I have had mine for a year and am looking for a new amp. I searched and a lot of the info was from last year. I know a lot more people have them now and I want to know what is working well. Thanks

I use a JL Slash 300/4 bridged which is a clean 150w rms to each pod and have zero complaints. Wetsounds rates them at 200rms but have heard from others they are pushing more power at them without any issues. I would go with good, clean power and not worry about the rms wattage as much.

how can you say stay away from the cheap stuff after you recommended a hi fonics amp? Maybe their new stuff is better, but back in the day they were junk with the exception of the one model that was made by ZED Audio.

I'm running a Kicker 400.2 on my Pro80s and they scream.

I like my JL's as well. 1 300/4 and 1 300/2 to my 2 pairs. They will get far louder than I want to be around without distorting.

Shane: What do you mean back in the day?

I had one of their Tauraus amps back in 1999, and that thing was a beast. 100% made in USA, overbuilt, 1 Ohm stable. I know since then they were bought by Maxxsonics and prodution went overseas and quality dropped, but I think its back up now. I just bought 3 Zeus amps and they are beafy.

early 90s, the Zeus are the ones that were built by ZED I believe. I could be wrong though.

What is your budget? There are good amps out there at every budget level and so many choices that one could go crazy thinking about which amp to buy. Honestly, I would like to hear two boats with the same tower speakers, and electrical, but maybe one with Zapco amps and the other with Kicker. I would be interested to hear what the difference in SQ at 80' would be.

not even in the same ball park, and one would be on fire when kicker go into protect mode they stay that way forever
