i have basically heard that you need to load the board a different way than normal boards,so i have a HL roam,so my question is what exactly do you have to do to get the best pop off of a roam.

well a roam will a lil different than a slingshot or other flex board due to a slower rebound but you can definately ride wake with it. progressive edge is key to loading a flex board, and IMO a big wake makes a lot of difference too. If you back off your edge you arent gonna get the pop you should. They are a great tool to really lock in progressive edging

Keep the board on the edge all the way through the wake. If you let go of the edge through the wake, all your pop is lost, because it has no fins to keep it tracked. I have a Roam, and my heelside jumps are fine, but my toeside jumps sucks because i do it wrong (lets go of the egde). You will be punished for doing it wrong on Roam. But it is a super fun board, especially on rails.

Hmmm... I tend to back off my edge a bit and use more of an ollie style pop off the wake.

im with tyler, while you can use a proper edge through the wake, i like to cut in hard to create a lot a speed then flatten out and ollie off the wake like a snowboard. The roam glides so well across water it doesn't slow down much let off your edge.
