Hey everyone, looking at possibly getting an X2 and I had a few questions. First off, what is the wake shape like for boarding. I heard it was steeper than the xstar which would be a good thing in my mind. Also, what is the boat like handling wise, pros? cons? Being a Mastercraft I can only assume good things. Finally, I must ask this horrible question but, since pops has the final say on the boat... what is the skiing wake like?

Are you talknig about the 06 x2, if so then I have one. I am in love with the boat. I was between this and an sv211. I use the boat in salt water and it handles the chop great. It is extremely well built. The wake isnt the biggest but in my opinion it has a great shape. I personally like the rampy shape over the nauatique shape as it is easier to keep in control. I have never riden an xstar but have riden a super air, an sv211, and an x10. Overall im really happy i got the boat. Its really spacious inside, in my opinion is the nicest looking boat out ther, and throws up a great wake. I may have ownership goggles but i love it.

If you are talking about an 05 or older X-2, then it is one of the best wake producing boats that has ever been made. I love mine. As far as the skiing, you wont be able to run a slalam course at compitition speeds and lengths, but the wake is not too bad with no weight at 36 mph.

Do a search on this. There was a huge thread on the 06 X2 wake.

Yeah, I guess I should have specified, the '06 X2. You say that the wake is still a bit rampy? That has been my experience with Mastercraft wakes but I heard it was steeper so I was hoping it would be better, (I test run will be the only true desiding factor) Right now I am coming off a tige wake and have been a big fan of Malibu's (with and without the wedge) and Nautiques. Thanks for your help! I will continue with a search

The wake at 36 is fine for the course on an x2/1/star hull. I run it all the time at "compitition speeds and lengths."

sorry for the hijack.

Ryan,

you should definitely try the 06 X2 before you buy.

Oh, don't worry, I plan on trying before buying. It is the only way to go. Same with boards/bindings anything. I was just wondering if I could get some input before I went in and rode. I tried looking for that thread you were talking about but only ended up with stuff from 2004. I am not the best with the search function haha.

drove a couple 05 x-2's on many occasions and they are the "funnest" boat to drive (they handle beautifully) and the wake is great (depends on how much you want to weigh the boat down)....

i have a 211 and it handles very good (solid/secure) while the x-2 is very responsive /nimble/silky smooth (kinda like a mercedes vs. a bmw)..

Just got in from riding tonight on my new 06 X2. Have now put 16 hours or so on it... I do live in northern Alberta but its still nice. Anywho the boat is GREAT at handling, great through boat chop and the wake is sweet. It only gets better as you weight it down but I prefer with stock ballast and about 6 people in the boat. If no peeps throw in about an extra 800-1200 more lbs of ballast! You will be impressed with your test drive! Sorry I have no pics... too busy enjoying the awesome riding/driving others!!!

Good luck with the purchase!
