Go to a 644 Acme - $350 shipped to your door. It will improve your hole shot with little top end sacrifice. If yoou reall want hole shot and don't mind hitting the rev limiter, then the 856 Acme. Same price.

Stock prop is the Acme 381 13.5X17.5. The 845 is 13.5X16. You will loose 2-3 mph top end but get on plane about 20% faster.

I spoke to soon and told you a prop that was Right Hand rotation rather than your left hand rotation. That is what I get from going by memory with over 40 prop models. The 644 and the 845 are mirror image props for opposite rotation.

The price is the same as quoted above. Please be aware that you have a splined shaft and that normal props will not fit. This prop can be shipped in about 24 hours of a paid order via UPS ground.

I have the 03' X-Star and run the ACME 845 13.5 X 16. 2800+ lbs ballast + people at 24.2 mph and she chimes in at ~2850 rpms. Don't get anything else!

What engines do you guys have? I have the LQ9, and the stock prop on that is a 20 pitch. I have gone to an 18, but it gets a little sluggish out of the hole when we have it weighted down, 2,300 lbs. and over 8 people. It also runs at about 3200 rpms at 24 mph.

Yes, it has to do with the torque curve, not the hp at top end. The torque curves are similar. If you are not as fully weighted, then a litte more pitch would be appropriate.

I went with the Acme 13.5x16 what a huge improvment, thanks for the input. By the way I'm running the MCX.

Sorry for the late post, but anyone have any thoughts on a new prop for the L-18?

I can't imagine that your L18 needs much help. Maeghan's boat has 2000lbs added over stock and with 4 people on board it can still pull the handle out of your hands. Your fuel consumption will go way up going to a smaller pitch prop...so choose wisely. The true advantage of owning the L18 is in the power vs. economy (because it doesn’t have to turn all those RPMs).

LQ9 we use the OJ 13.7x15.5 XMP, it could also be used with the MCX option boats.

Matt the prop is an OJ. The first two s's are for stainless steel the last one is for splined shaft. As for what this did for me by going with this set-up it gave me what I feel is the best setup for my application it gives me pulling power and a fair amount of top end 48mph without sacrificing fuel economy. I have tried 14x18, 14x20,14.5x22, and 14.5x21
