Ants in the boat

I have ants in my boat. Are the standard pest control sprays like Raid safe on upholstery and carpet?

Try this:

Ortho Home Defense, you can get it at most hardware stores, even Costco. It says it's safe for pets and kids. I had ants on my boat too and it worked. I have been using it for years around the window and doorways at home to keep out spiders, ants etc.

We used bayleaves years ago and it worked. Ants don't like them for some reason. If it is a bad ant problem, I would probabley go with the Ortho though.

I have a horrible problem with bugs as I keep my boat outside on a lift...I just use those littel ant/roach traps...they seem to work. I had a family of raoches living on my boat after ownign it for only 3 weeks ( brand new boat). the traps turned up dead roaches in about a week.

If you wash your boat with white vinegar and water you will never have an ant problem again I used it on mine with a 70% white vinegar and 30% water mix and I let it sit for a day and then rewashed it without the vinegar and I haven't had a problem since

My uncle was in the boat this weekend, so we put a beer on the dock and he got out of the boat. Dont know if that would work for ants though.

Since we are on the bug topic, how do you keep wasps from building nests under the cover?
