my brother and i are looking to buy one of the older (02-05) SAN. how are these for surfing? what kind of set up do you need? got pix?

Should work well, I think they changed prop rotation from right hand to left hand around 2004. Maybe somebody can clarify that for you, but from what I understand prop rotation direction will have some impact on the wave you can produce. Seems like left hand rotation is better for a port sided wave. Again, maybe somebody can either confirm this or correct me if I am mistaken.

The past two days my buddies and I have been loading a 04 san i think it is with two 400# sacs on the seats and people hanging on the tower and the wake was FAT, it was crazy big and really clean on both sides, it was about up to my belly button and im 6ft. So yeah they can.

They changed it in '06. I have an '05 and it is the old rotation. But it still works well for surfing.
