What's the best product to use to remove decals? I have some decals peeling off and I just want to remove them. Heat gun or hair dryer likely will work to remove, but what about remaining glue?

I would use goo gone, it takes that sticky stuff off real well

3M makes a decal remover wheel that mounts on your drill, supposed to be the best.

I removed all my decals the hard way as I didn't have the 3M tool locally. Used a heat gun and goo gone and a plastic scraper.

WD40 works great removing goo from things. Always have a can laying around somewhere. I have never tried it on a boat hull, but I doubt it will do any damage. Just clean and wax afterwords. Maybe someone else can give input on WD40.

i ran over a can of spray paint once in my car and wd40 took the spray paint off. I am not sure it would be safe for gel coat.

I've used Hi-Solv on lots of surfaces for removing decal glue and it works great. It's like an automotive paint surface prep product. I've used it on glass, clear coat, gel coat, snowmobile plastics, etc, and it never hurt anything.

if it gets to the point where none of those work, try some acetone, but usually any citrus cleaner(such as goo gone) should work.

acetone or goo gone... acetone will work great on a towel and then hit it with a bit of wax.

Peel them while hot in the sun and use goof off to remove remaining adhesive. Goof off is available at most hardware or paint stores and as always be sure and wash, rinse, and re-wax when done

Had a wrap and removing the glue from that is the worst! Tried aceton, wd-40, and Goo Gone by itself...no dice. Then got a tip from my mechanic to use the Goo Gone in conjunction with paper towels. It takes for ever, but works good:

*Spray goo gone on the remaining glue
*Place paper towel over the spot you just treated and spray more goo gone so the paper towel is saturated and sticks to the glue
*let sit for 5-10 min, then rub off.

I suppose this would work well with a sticker after peeling it off.

One word. Xylene. Just keep it off any plastic. Buff after. And don't huff it. Most wraps will use a primer which can be a real bear to get off. Same as any thinner let it soak in. Then wipe off with a clean paper towel.

yes, what Justin said. make sure you soak the adhesive with goof off and let it sit for 5-10 mins. this will make the removal 10x easier. if you plan to put new decals where the old ones were removed, be sure to clean (soap & water..no wax) that area good.
