If you had a choice of two different winches which would you choose and why? The choices are The Gonzalez by Ridiculous Winches or the Grinch Winch by Distortion. Both would be considered brand new with comparable options. (1000 ft. of line, 7 hp (Grinch) vs. 6.5 (Gonzalez), the gonzalez doesn't have a tow bar yet the grinch doesn't have wheels) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would go with the grinch just because the ridiculous winch makes winching look like a joke.

pulldozer.

the grinches ive seen and ridden off of had zero craftsmanship. the torque converter wasnt lined up with the sprocket and the axle/shaft that the spool and sprocket were on were not level at all, not even to the naked eye. they also use steel for their frames, which adds an excessive amount of weight.

"the ridiculous winch makes winching look like a joke." agreed.

Yeah and it's quite a bit cheaper. I have about $1200 total in my 2 winches together

O god, i wish thats all i had in mine. we built one and my dad wants to re do the frame to make it smaller and more user friendly. we had an extra 25 feet of 2 inch tube steel (he thought we would need 50 feet...)

but im already at $1400 for the one. and that excludes a splash guard and paint. and we are thinking about getting it powder coated

would the winches on the front of a jeep wrangler pull through if you just attach a handle to the end cable?

the winches that are on the front of a jeep are extremely slow. they pull slower then a boat does while at idle to get the slack out. they are meant to have huge amounts of torque with very slow speed.

I had this one made instead of either of the other choices. I am very pleased so far. It is a Mutiny built by Bobby Miller of Integrity. One of kind for sure. 6.5 hp with stage 1 kit(8 hp), 1200 ft amsteel, aluminum spool, removable hitch, powdercoated frame, disc brake, motorcycle throttle, you name it and it's got it. Bobby has been a pleasure to work with and has gone out of his way to make sure the winch is perfect and that I am satisfied. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Better pictures to come very soon. Most definitely one sexy lady.

its not one of a kind, sorry.
Chris from norcalwake.com has one that looks exactly like it, just a little smaller and its not orange.

Yeah I know the one you are speaking of and there are most definitely differences. It is similar design for most part but differences in options, specs and size as you mentioned. Bobby changed a few things on this one that he learned from building chris'

ya, after going back to the pics chris had, you guys are way diffferent, same basic thing though, is that a 6.5 hp motor? chris has a 6.5 and alot of people couldnt get up with it
Old     (overstreet31)      Join Date: Dec 2005       09-04-2009, 4:09 PM Reply
Yeah it's a 6.5 with a stage one kit that is supposed to make it push 8. We shall see. From what I was told this should be sufficient with a tav2. It is from nr-racing.com

Bobby did make another frame like mine after the one the link you posted shows. It is on ws.com

David, Chris' winch works great. And the winches are different. Chris doesnt have a motorcycle throttle.

Ross, your winch looks awesome! Integrity/Mutiny and pulldozer winches are the best Ive ever ridden.

mitchm i know chris's winch was awesome, its one of the nicest ive seen. just it didnt have enough power to get one of the guys couldnt get up with it is all i was saying,

Thanks for the support and comments guys. Bobby has been the greatest guy to deal with. I seriously almost went with the Pulldozer. I have heard great things about them from lots of people including Bobby. I just wanted something a little more unique and custom. As far as the price it was very reasonable. Much less than I was expecting for such a work of art. Can't wait to try it out. Should be freighted next week from Cali to MS. One lucky truck driver and future owner for sure.

Here are a couple first go around before UPS decided to play forklift hockey with it during shipment. Bobby has since made a few changes as well as the powdercoat(orange) you see on the previous pics

I really don't know the total costs. I paid Bobby a set fee and then ordered all the parts (TAV, engine, rope) and had them sent to him for assembly. +/- 2000.

Should i look into a winch if i want to start putting up some rails into a river
my lake is illegal
Old     (overstreet31)      Join Date: Dec 2005       09-14-2009, 12:22 PM Reply
Patch, you may want to check into one, sounds like a good option. Can you not have rails at all on your lake or not permanent ones? What if you remove it after every session?
Old     (wswb4lfe)      Join Date: Jan 2009       09-14-2009, 2:36 PM Reply
I think im allowed to if i remove it. It is a public lake though

Thanks Ryan. Needless to say I am excited to get it. Can't wait to see how she pulls. If it's anything like it looks I will most definitely be stoked.

do you have pics of it after they played forklift hocky
Old     (overstreet31)      Join Date: Dec 2005       09-16-2009, 7:35 PM Reply
The pics of it metallic are the ones after ups had their way with it. Hard to tell from the pics but a few dents in the tube frame, engine mount bolts were stripped out, paint chipped and scratched pretty heavily. When he packaged the winch it was ready to go besides oil and gas. I recieved a package with loose engine, chain off, and styrofoam pieces in gas tank. More like volleyball than hockey actually.
