I'm getting a tattoo similar to this one my sister designed for me. The cool thing, I think, is that the silhouette is actually me riding. Thats just a picture I gave her to use to design it but I want to get a different grab in there for the actual tattoo.

Which silhouette grab do you think would look the best in that, or something real similar to that sunset design?

It will look fine today, but in 10 years, it will look like a black dot/blob. If I were you, I would pic a more stylish design, something, that will stand the test of time, convey the same meaning, etc.

I agree with Chris, don't make it so clumped up.

Also I think a stalefish grab would look good if you could see it well

The real question isn't whether the tattoo will look good 10 years from now, but rather, "will this grab still be stylish 10 years from now?"

I vote you go with a tindy.

It's gotta be a grab I can do, or attempt to do. I was thinking method or something really poked out.

Can you do the seatbelt grab. That would be awesome, but would definitely need to get it from a side angle. Seatbelt grab is by far my favorite grab.

Yeah Rich, I'm with you on this one...I've never seen the attraction to the tat craze. Reminds me too much of a nightmare I had about going to prison.

I liken it to getting a big ole' "Barbie" tattoo on your arm. Sure when you were 7 it was the coolest thing ever and all the kids did it but after while you change and Barbie just isn't that hot now a days.

When you are 30 and you are wearing a one piece with 2 kids screaming "MOM" at you; You'll thank me.

In my eye's Tats are cool when they have a special meaning...like your Dad died or you are tributing a lost child.

Thanks Crash! Wasn't really asking for your guys opinion to if I should get one or not...I'm gonna get one, I've always wanted one and wakeboarding happens to mean something to me. Idk bout the rest of you, but wakeboarding is my life. Sure I'm goin to college to play softball but wakeboarding is where its at...forever. Why would I want someone to die just so I can get a tattoo of their birthday or initials or something.

Oh and by the way, it's going on the back of my shoulder. So you won't be able to see it 95% of the time anyway. It's a summer tat to me.

people make comments to me all the time about my tats and how they wony look the same when im old, my answer to that is id rather have a bunch of smeary ink than gnarly veiny legs and pale white skin. if i were you id be down at the tat parlor asking the guys in there for their advise cuz i gaurantee your gonna get in there and they will end up changing it anyway. they are pros at what they do and i reccomend you give them the freedom to create their artwork. make the artist be proud to put the peice on you

Sorry I'd rather spend more time on the water than in my english class Rich. Spelling doesn't mean it comes to what wakeboarding means to me. Talk to me and I'll tell you exactly what wakeboarding means...and I bet I won't speak perfect english. :-)

Jason - Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna pick the grab I want and see what they say about it. They ARE the experts so I'm gonna trust them lol

Thanks again

its going to be really tough to get that sunset to look right. Maybe just a solid blue background?

PS where do you want to get the tat?

Thats a pretty tight drawing, or airbrushing.... Hope the tat turns out good!!

If your artist can't do the sunset, find another artist. Be very picky about your artist..shop around. Not for price, for vibe, comfort, willingness of the artist to work with your design. If you get the feeling they don't really want to do it, walk away. If you are not comfortable, walk away. Don't rush it.
As far as time, I have some over 20 years old that still look the same as the day I got them with the exception of fading which can be recolored when I feel the need.
I always find it rather humorous when people with out tats give information about them and all the things they'll do down the road....
