yup
did the same thing to mine

we hit a submerged stump doing about 20

didn't shear off the blade like that, but bent all 4 of them pretty good

took a few weeks to get fixed

over $5,000 in damage

shaft, strut, prop, lots of gel coat and some fiberglass work

boats now as good as new.....can't tell it was ever damaged

thank goodness for good insurance!

can the prop be repaired?

I seriously doubt that can be fixed. With all the labor involved, it would be just as easy to get a new prop.

I don't think a repair shop would touch that.

You did $5k in damage to your boat... and you're worried about the prop?

I'm pretty sure that the blade that is missing cannot be repaired.

just thought I would have it repaired for a spare.

Need an office decoration???? Besides scrap, that is all you can do with that prop.

I'm kind of amazed there isn't significant damage to the other blades. Good luck patching the rest of the damage up and yes insurance may be able to help you out.

What did you hit?

I never saw what I hit, it was dark in about 100ft of water on Flathead Lake in Montana. With the way it looks and the scuff on the bottom of the boat, it appeared to be a log.

Is that water or bubbling in your gel coat? I would think a prop shop would be concerned about liability slapping another vane on that prop.

Water, took a good chunk out above the prop and then the strut is bent. The vibration caused the
gel coat to crack out around the strut. Im going to take out the shaft and have it checked.

So I took out my shaft, it has a slight bend to it and I am going to have it straighten tomorrow. The strut does not look bent at all. I have measured it from side to side with a square and some tricky measuring and there is less than 1/8 inch difference. What does everyone think

Replace with new. I never trust fatigued metal in a critical application. It needs to be aligned by someone who knows how to get it right - someone experienced.
