Close to 80 degrees here today, and the boat is at the shop getting unwinterized. Should have it Thursday for my first set. It will be a little cooler Thurs, thank god for the heater on the boat and dry suits.

I drove by Horsetooth res last thursday and it was still half covered in ice hopefully by the end of the week with this good weather it will be all gone.

Yeah horsetooth stays colder longer. What does it heat up to mid summer on avg? With 80 today and mid 70's tomorrow it should be thawed by the weekend. We're probably going to hit cherry creek or chatfield for the weekend.

Horstooth will get into the 70's by mid summer. we will hit up boyd lake first it warms up a lot faster might have to invest in a drysuite if we go out this weekend.

Water temp was still at 34 degrees but a couple more nice days and it should be bearable.

My brother inlaw just got done fishing in tourament at pueblo this last weekend he said that the water temp was 42 degrees don't know what part of the lake he was fishing thow.

I think the temp reading I took was out by the dam.. Deepest part of the lake. Thanks for the info though.

My wife and I were down at Pueblo the day before the last blizzard hit (I think 2 weeks ago not last Fridays that hit south of the city only). It was about 76 air and about 41 water. We used a wetsuit rated at 38 degrees. It was not that bad but any falls were cold but hell its March. I would guess creek would be around 40 tmrw with the heating from today and 40 degree lows.

It is actually painful to not have the boat on the water with a day like today

I agree. I had a hard time working today. I just wanted to be out riding!

So true, today was amazing. Question- I just bought a boat, and wondering the best way to go about accessing a few lakes- should we buy a state park pass? Horsetooth & Carter are both Larimer county parks not Colorado state parks, like Boyd, Pueblo is that right? I'm in Boulder, so we'll likely get the Boulder Res pass but I know thats not the only place we'll go.... suggestions/thoughts?

I usually try to plan out were I'm going to go more and invest in a pass accordingly. This year we're going to be hitting Horsetooth a lot so will skip the state park pass.

I would try to get on a private lake if you can or try Windsor or Standley (semi private) but it really depends how much you ride. If your only going out on weekends I would try Jackson out by Wiggins. It's not as crowded as the other lakes along the front range. The water is pretty good before noon, after that it gets pretty rough. During the week its always calm. I know a lot of guy's like Horse Tooth Rez but it's always packed no matter what time of day but maybe its just me.

I by both passes little exspensive at first but we go to alot of different lakes, they pay for them selfs. we go to boyd first because the water gets warmer there quicker but I live 5 min from the north dam of horsetooth so we go there a bunch, and we do a huge trip to jackson 4th of july so we get are money out of both. private lake would be good but plan on dropping $3,000 to get on one.
yea kinda sucks Chris but the weather has to but a smile on your face knowing that we are so close to the new season.

The bad thing about Jackson is that the water is green.

Anyone riding on Sunday? It's supposed to be 72. The thought of not riding on Sunday is terrible!

Made it out on horsetooth yesterday afternoon, it was beautiful out and the water was glass. Got out and skied a run, water wasn't too bad with a wetsuit on. Planning on getting back out this afternoon!!

We are getting our boat unwinterized this weekend and making the first trip next weekend to Navajo Lake. I know that if far from Denver, but does anyone frequent this lake? We have our boat stored there year around and we are there most weekends from Spring to Fall.

Hopefully the weather stays nice, but the extended forecast for next weekend has it dropping off again with some showers.

Good weekend on the water, few frustrations on Cherry creek. Glad we are done with that lake for the season. Did meet some great guys that hydrofoil though. Now 3 weeks of dry dock for the boat, and then on to standley lake.

Hooked the boat up to get it unwinterized on Thursday. One of the tires was flat due to the valve stem breaking. I will be out of town this weekend so I rescheduled the unwinterization for the 22nd. Should be hitting horsetooth on the weekends from then on.

Finally got the first set out of the way. I feel like going to the gym in the winter hardly helped.

You should hit some of the dealerships, they'd know best. I know Tommys has a private lake.

We bought our boat from Tommy and when we talked to him about his lake he kind of laughed at us - but thanks for the info!

I think Standley didn't completely sell out, though they may have by now. It's not a completely private lake, but it is much better than say cherry creek or chatfield. You should give them, a call. One of the big problems with most of the private lakes close by is that they are tiny and you have to have time slots to ride on them. Kind of lame in my opinion. Any reason why you want a private lake? I know there are quite a few semi large ones out east.

Well the boyfriend grew up on a private lake out in Brighton but they sold out of it about four years ago. We bought our own boat and its just not that same at the public lakes, we got kind of spoiled. There are so many yahoo's out there and its just terrible water ya know? We do live 5 minutes away from chatfield so we are able to get some decent early morning and dusk runs. I'll have to look into Standley though for sure!

That is a tiny lake, not worth $3500 per year. If you're willing to drive aways go to glendo. When it's not the holidays that place it pretty empty and it's 8 miles long, so there is plenty of room

Ya, we usually hit up Glendo or Guernsey for a weekend in the summer. Good lakes! Any suggestions on other lakes out of state? We do an annual boat trip and like to try new places.

What about Sloan's? I know it's shallow and brown, but we almost get the lake to ourselves everytime when we go out on weekdays.
