I cant seem to get out far enough. On the way back in, i dont have enough time to cut and get speed for air. Im riding a CWB SOL. I dunno what to do, any suggestions? Im riding behind a Regal 24 footer, puts off a big wake, but i dont have a tower.

How long is your rope, and at what speed are you riding?

Just to get used to it, try letting go of the handle with your rear hand, leaning your whole body over, and dragging your rear hand through the water. Don't bend at the waist when you're doing this and keep fairly even pressure on both of your feet. That should get you way out there.

Keep in mind, however, that you don't need much of an approach to get air. If you can wait for the rope to tighten up, grab a good edge, accelerate quickly, and stand tall at the wake, you can easily clear the wakes, with plenty of air, from only 8 or 10 feet outside the wake.

Tim's question about speed is also relevant. If you go too slow, your board will feel very sluggish and edging will be tough. Try to go at least 21. 23 is even easier but it's much less forgiving if you fall. If you don't have a properly calibrated paddle wheel speedometer, try to check your speed with a GPS receiver. Your average boat speeodmeter is not very accurate at all.

I guess i should be riding a little faster. I usually go around 15. The rope is fairly short, I shorten it a little when i ride. The wake is verrry big, thanks for your help salmon, ill try that.

Thanks!

Also, do you think it will affect me that much that i dont have a tower? The place that i hook onto is at the very bottom of the boat in the back.

Having a tower or pylon will definately help you get more air, but with practise you should be able to get high with your setup as well. I just started wakeboarding this year and started off like you, with the rope coming from the bottom of the boat. I could get pretty good height and distance but after getting a pylon it helped a lot.
