I was reading the rules to the 1080 and it requires "4" (which is really 2) handle passes and not wrapped. My question is we have a guy here now doing what he calls a OO9 (omosis ole 9 - no handle pass). If he could turn that into a 1080, why would it not count because he wasn't passing the handle? Guess I don't understand why a handle pass is required. And don't say because a no handle pass 1080 would be easier. http://www.wakeboardamerica.com http://www.wakeboardatlanta.com http://www.wakeboardalabama.com http://www.wakeboardohio.com http://www.wakeboardcarolinas.com http://www.wakeboardtennessee.com

I agree with you. Wrapped tricks are still pretty hard. Not many people do wrapped double grab 720s like randy harris. If he did a wrapped 1080 I would think it should count. He still has to do 2 handle passes after the first 360. And why cant you land blind??? That is dumb, in park's 1080 sequence he lands blind for a split second...he would be disqualified.

maybe you should re-read the rules more in depth.

As far as an Osmosis Ole 1080 is concerned, it really didn't even cross our minds when we created the contest. Whether it's harder or easier I guess is up for debate, but we were just looking for somebody to do a straight, non-wrapped 1080 and set up the rules accordingly. The rules are the result of consultation with a lot of riders that are at that level, including Parks Bonifay. That's great that things are progressing to the point that somebody might pull off an Osmosis Ole 1080, but I don't think it's really fair to change the rules in the middle of a contest to accommodate a different style of spin. Otherwise, we would have already had to award Robin Friday the cash for pulling it off the kicker on the cable. Starting (and possibly ending) the trick wrapped actually does make it quite a bit easier simply due to the fact that when you're handle passing that many times, you actually run out of handle and end up with nothing to grab by the time you finish. When Parks did his 1080, he landed wrapped. There is nothing in the rules that prohibits that. It only prohibits wrapping at the beginning. A straight, non-wrapped 1080 would normally require the rider to "pass" the handle five times (behind, in front, behind, in front, behind). If you want to land wrapped like Parks did, you will pass the handle four times. Again, that's all within the rules. Let me know if I'm missing something or if you have any other questions.

I agree that changing the rules at this point is not an option. I honestly don't even know if he has tried a 1080. I could see how you didn't think about someone doing this. I just thought about it when I saw the sequence of this trick. Oh well, I am not winning the contest eitherway, so no big deal. http://www.wakeboardamerica.com http://www.wakeboardatlanta.com http://www.wakeboardalabama.com http://www.wakeboardohio.com http://www.wakeboardcarolinas.com http://www.wakeboardtennessee.com

It isn't mine to show. A couple of guys down here are shooting a video due out in a few months and it is from that. That are keeping it pretty tight under wraps. Only reason I have seen it is because I am one of the sponsors. They want people to see it one the video for the first time. The guys name is Matt Simms.

"just a w2w 900" he says . Matt Sims is amazing to watch. Like mentioned above he landed the 009 at the Ambush BYOB Championships this past weekend and had the spin on the 1080 attempt but not the rope. Actually there were a bunch of amazing riders at the comp and Matt wasn't the only one landing "just a w2w 900" in it.

Actually I may be wrong. I was thinking that Rhett Whatley also pulled a 900 but it may have "only" been a 720 .

yeah, rhett only does 7's. I've seen Corey Bradley spin 1080, but without the handle. Matt seems to miss that last pass a lot on his 10's

If your going to count spinning 1080 degrees, than Justin Abbott from Australia has done that on cable. He called it the C10, its a toeside double sbend to blind. I dont think he should win it because I would like to see, and Justin would also like to see someone step it upto the level of Mark and Parks

double s-bend to blind would only be a 900??? an s-bend= raley w/ 2 handed bs ole 360. So two s-bends would = 720 and landing it blind would be an extra 180.
