I went and test drove an 01 super air yesterday and thought it felt a little odd above 3000 RPM's. It felt like the engine was working harder than it should have been. It felt like to much vibration and like it was being held back a little. Anybody have any advice or experienced anything like this? Could the shaft be slightly bent? I don't know if I am being over critical or not. I am used to driving an 02 SAN and dont remember this feeling.

Also it has updated analog gauges as the digital gauges were not good on the 01's and it reads at 33 hours which is obviously not right. The dealer told me they dont have the diagnostics to check the GT-40 motor as it is a ford. I called California Correct Craft to see if they could and they said there is no way to see how many hours are on those motors??? That seems odd to me.

go with your gut. they're right about the motor. you can't tell with the gt-40. you can with the excalibur. basically the hour meter was reset when the guages were replaced.

You can check how much stress the engine has been under with a computer at most dealerships, i would suggest checking before you buy, Have any interest in an 05 Super Air?

was this that red and white san up near la? i called them but i didnt get the feeling they knew what they were talking about so i didnt bother. plus there is no way to find out the true hours. (i posted on here asking if there was a way and everyone said no). plus i called a friend that used to work at a correctcraft dealership as a mechanic and he confirmed.

Yes it is the red and white one. It is in good shape and has no tears in the vinyl or anything wrong with the hull. Based on this im guessing it has between 300-500 hours, but thats just a guess.

Ask to take it to a mechanic and have it inspected. A compression check and an inspection of the plugs while they are out can let you in on a lot.
