99 mastercraft prostar 205v sounds to good

9,900 for this boat with only 500 hours. guy says he will ship and If I dont like can ship back to him at his cost????? Scam?? This sounds way to good to be true. Is there something I should be asking?

sounds like a scam. How far is he shipping? Probally would cost about half that much to ship, plus shipping it back, double the price of the boat.

is there a link to it? where did you find it?

SCAM! Did he also say that it's just sitting in storage in NY or something....I think there has been a few like this come up that were scams....sounds real close to being the same anyway.

Does he have it already in a crate ready to ship UPS freight? That is the best I have seen yet.

He has it in Oregon. I am in Cincinnati. The NADA value is between 18-22K.

Find out if he will only ship it out and won't deal locally. Tell him you're going to come and pick it up. See what he does. Call him. Tell him you're going to handle transport yourself but that you will be there with a check in hand within a week, by way of a one-way flight. And that you'll buy it sight-unseen. These kinds of deals do exist but you have to really be aggressive about them. Also don't tell him you thought it was a scam because the price was so low. In the off chance this is real.

Thats how I uncovered a scam not too long ago on a 1996 Sport Nautique for $5500. It seemed too good to be true and was and I still have the email messages from that whole ordeal. It was so interesting and I was so worked up over it because the person was very brazen. At one point I was convinced it was authentic.

But I would never buy something like that unless I completely handled the shipping myself - which I always do by way of a one-way flight and a check in hand. Thats the safest way to go, bar none. This person was unwilling to let me proceed that way and said he/she is a broker and the seller demands that it be done without actually meeting anyone face to face. Obviously that was the point when my hopes fizzled. In this case I was going to drive to pick it up rather than fly and try to figure out shipping from my destination. This mystical boat was in TN and I am in Massachusetts.

Thanks for all of your input. I will give these Ideas a shot and see what happens. If it turns out to be a scam, I will post the info that I have for the guy.

I wouldn't do that necessarily. I had a huge post ready to go on The Wakeboard Report about it replete with email trail and so on - then I thought about it. I decided that scammers have a few points higher likelihood of being axe murderers than average citizens so I didn't post their information.

Don't waste your time. It is a scam. If it was legit, he could sell it on craigslist locally in 30 minutes, and not pay shipping. Think about it.

He is just trying to hustle you for a deposit. Does the seller make some grammatical errors? The boat is just a set of digital images, and he's not in Oregon.

Boat registration looks like Maryland. He wouldnt give me his number to call him. He had this boat on ebay. Beware

Where in Oregon? If its in Salem maybe I can go see this "boat" he has...

Where in Mass are you from? I live in RI and don't see many folks from New England on here.
