Nikon D40x

I am looking at getting the D40x and am curious on which version I should go with.

The 6.1mp includes the 55-200mm VR lens from Costco for $649.99.

The 10mp kit comes without the VR lens for $779.99.

Looking to shoot snowboarding, wakeboarding, some motocross, and nature pictures on my hikes.

Should I take the extra mega pixels or stay with the lower mega pixels and get the VR lens? I'm new to the DSLR world.

I don't think you're comparing apples to apples. The 6.1 MP is not a D40x. That's the D40.

I think my VR zoom was ~$300, so the D40 w/ VR is a pretty good deal.

My sugesstion is get a d40x with the 55-200 vr from B&H for 775.90 plus shipping and handling.

Adorama (a reputable online site) has the D40x with the 18-55 kit lens AND the 55-200 VR for only $775; this is a heck of a deal for this package, and probably won't last long:

Ended up with the D40 with 1855mm and the 55-200mm VR locally for the Costco price.

Now it's time to learn to use it

My girlfriend got a D40X for christmas and it's awesome. I'll try and post some snowboard pics from it this weekend...Both are great camera's for the money. Have fun with your new toy !
