Just starting to get into slalom skiing more and have been using half of an ancient celebrity combo. Wondered what your thoughts were on a good next step ski. About 150lbs, fairly aggressive athletic. Want something not over the top but something that can challenge me and stick with me for a while.

Cheers Jeff

If money is not a problem, you might as well go and get a top end ski. It might be a little quick for you, but you will get the hang of it after a while.

No you shouldn't just go ahead and get a top end ski... This is a mistake a lot of people make. Truth of the matter is that more often than not a high end ski will actually hinder your development rather than help you progress.

Jeff if I had to make a recommendation I'd recommend a wider ski, like either a CR7 or a older HO ASX or Vengeance... These skis will allow to work on slalom skiing in and outside of the course at slower speeds without sinking.

most of the top end skis must be ridden (technique-wise) correctly on the sweet spot otherwise you are wasting your money. Not to mention they will bite you if ridden incorrectly.

Now don't take that to mean you can't be an agressive skier on the skis I've recommended. I've personally run into 35off of the Vengeance and my buddy has ski'd well into 38 on a CR7...

Ski-it-again is a great place to purchase used stuff too at great $$$... Here's a few I'd also recommend for you...

I also am looking to get a slalom ski for our crew. We generally ride behind an outboard that maxes out in the mid thirties. The two of us that ride weigh about 200 pounds and are 6 ft tall. Im not looking for a competition ski, but a good quality ski. Large/ xl front wrap and toe plate rear would be preferred. Any ideas?
