what does "rail" mean

What are they talking about when they are describing a board and talk about a rail riding style and "less friction on the water when on rail for a faster feel"

What does that mean? Because I was thinking of getting the 04 byerly 132 and i was told the CWB absolute 134 was a way better board and stuff.

I think they are refering to the edge of the board. Kind of like a "rail grab". sounds like they are trying to say that their edge design will cause less friction and speed the board up??? Usually when I hear rail it refers to sliders. But you cant be afraid of the speed or its a waste of the board??

Jamie- I ride a CWB lotus 131, and before that a hyperlite essence 131. but i have ridden my brothers CWB absolute 134 and it kicked ass! some days i prefer it over mine. My other brother Kurtis rides a LF Substance 134 and it kicks ass too. The 134's are a little too big for me though, and Kurt's has got huge fins, so it's harder for me to handle. anyways - go to your local dealer and see if they will let you take out a demo CWB 134 to test it out. as for the rail thing, i agree with Pat on what it means according to how its being used.

when a person rides on the rail they are relying less on the fin for hold and more on the edge of the board for hold when edging in towards the wake. generally people that ride on the rails are a little more advanced.
