Hey does anyone ride with out shoes. I have this old wakeboard and we put some grip tape on it, its hella fun. I havent tried any of the new purpose built boards yet but I am wondering if shoes are pretty much a requirement? I seem to get cuts on my leading foot quite often but I dont like the feel of the board with shoes on. It could be that I am an old a$$ beginner But I wonder if eventually I am going to have to get used to the shoes idea.

I started without shoes riding a foam board, but had to start wearing them when I started trying for W2W's. Seem to be able to stick it a little better

Matt,
You're old school. ha ha
I was the same way when I started riding the wakeskate about 3 yrs ago.
Shoes didn't feel right. I banged up my feet all the time going wake to wake and the boys always insisted I try the shoes.
Finally, I gave in and my riding improved drastically not to mention the condition of my feet. One word, cushion.
At first it seems as if you lose the feel for the board, but eventually you'll get used to it and will have more confidence.

Get a flat Cassette; great first board and they sell for around $100.00 with either foam or grip tape top. I ride the flat foam top Cassette 41".
It's a whole different ride than the wakeboard w/griptape that you've got.

I don't ride with shoes...on grip and foam. I like the feel on the board against my feet.
