What does size of board effect?

Hey I was just wondering what the size of the board really effects. I'm 6'0 175lbs and have been riding my old 02 premier 140 and 03 parks 143 boards. I have a friend basically giving away his 05 premier 130, he said hed give it to me for like $50. Would the 10 cm really make a difference? If so what size range should I try and stay in?

yes, that board is pretty tiny. You would probably want to stay in the 136-142 range. If you get too small of a board, it will be MUCH slower in the water, as well as be harder to land without digging in the nose. Look in the "for sale" section here, there are some sweet deals that always go through there.

Yeah, don't go with the 130. Too small for you. In addition to what Garret said, a bigger board will give you more pop off the wake and softer landings because of the increased surface area. That's why you see pros like Parks and Murray, who are only like 5'7, riding boards that are up around 140cm when most average wakeboarders that size ride a board more in the 130 range.

im 5'1 95lbs and i ride a 2004 lf 134 fusion what difference would a 134 have opposed to like a 130(remember that im only 13)

how old is your cousin?My dad got me a 134 after my 124 was stolen of our boat about 2 years ago i will be 13 this spring and i figure i will outgrow it eventually....so basically if he is ever gonna grow in to it i say keep it

Colin, I'm 5'8" 150 pounds and I ride a 135. Eventually you might out grow your 134. But for now it should be fine. The difference between a 130 & 134 is an inch and a half in length. The other concern with going to a wrong sized board is that you might not be able to set up the bindings to your correct stance width.

my dad is 6'1 180-190lbs. and he rides a 138 trip. He has been having trouble landing big airs. Is a 138 the right size?

Get him on a 142, he will enjoy it much more.

the size of the board effects swing weight, landings,and pop

Board size will affect:

Pop
Speed into the wake
Turning ability
Landing
Recovery of sketch landings
Board longevity
Required speed for various manuvers
Edging
Timing in order to get good pop

The smaller the board, the lower it will sit in the water and the faster you will need to go to hit the wake right. You will also be able to roll it further on edge, but with more drag under some conditions.

In the end it is personal preferance. Some riders deliberately go small for spins and learning the trip-flip manuvers (tantrum). Others go big for the raley and hoochie glide.

I am thinking about getting a 134cm board and weigh about 105 pounds. I don't went to get one that I will outgrow in a year. Should I go with that size?

Ok I'm about 6-6'1 and 150 lbs, is my 134 too small?
