Tonight there is a special on the Delta. They say our tax dollars will help pay for a clean up.

Fine with me It's about time my tax dollars go towards something cool.

from the stuff that i have seen the delta really needs to be cleaned up, it is one of the dirtiest waterways around, except in mexico.

Actually in Victoria slough, there has been professional testing for over two years and it is cleaner than most of the lakes in California. it looks dirty because of the flow and sediment, but the wate is actually not dirty!

Yeah it is a pretty dirty waterway. I just hope they clean it up enough so the girls that like to wakeboard will go with us. They will only hit the lake and are afraid of the delta.

Is that true Jason? I've always heard stories about pestiside run off. I know it stinks sometimes in the summer. I ride up closer to tower park though.

Jason if that's true why does my hull turn green everytime I have it in the delta for more than a couple days in a row. It has never turned green from any of the lakes I go to.

they are saying that due to all the abandon(sunken) boats, mass amounts of oil is finding its way into the water. mike, even if they dont clean it up, get those girls out there - can't beat chics covered in oil

I think it depends on what your definition of "dirty" is... I would guess that some water that looks crystal clear could be very contaminated w/ chemicals. And a little pesticide in the water could actually clean it up?? The delta is similar to where I use to ride in Idaho on the Snake river. I'm sure it had a lot of run off from agriculture and it was far from clear like some of the lakes.

Buffalow is correct!!! The Delta is actually cleaner than most lakes in California. A great deal of the Delta water is shipped south via aquaducts, they then drink it!

JONb...your statement is very incorrect, look at the Hudson and the Mississippi both of the bodies of water at 10 times more contaminated than the Delta...

Iceman thanks for the FYI, I'm very curious as to what they call "Clean Up". I've been born and raised on the Delta and mind you I've seen some pretty bad things out there (dead bodies, sunken cars and dead cows)but the Delta is acutally one the more cleaner bodies of water in the Nation!!!

I once caught a fish in the delta that had three eyes.

Teri, I'll give you ten bucks to see you drink a big gulp sized cup of delta water.

It's too bad the water's so dirty and dangerous to be in, it's pretty lonely on Victoria on Saturday afternoons! It'd be nice to see another boat once in a while.

dude, i went to the delta to go riding one day, the next day i woke up with a 3rd arm. its cool though cuz i can pass the handle even better now. on the brighter side, if you think the delta is dirty, then you should check out bunea vista in bakersfield.

The segment was on sunken vessels, and the fuel and oil they release once submerged. A good segment but they didn't go into any other contaminates (pesticides, parasites or bacteria). It was more about getting to abandoned vessels before they sink and the environmental impact.

I can attest to the fact that Teri has consumed much more than a cup of Delta water......from the looks of some of the falls, probably from both ends!!! heheheheh
