Has anyone else in Phoenix had problems when filling up your boat because of the shortages? Last night @ 11:30 when I went to fill up the boat, a couple older guys behind me in line came up to me and where trying to start stuff. They where like "what the F**K do you think you are doing son?" and I told them I was filling up my boat, which I guess really steamed them because they told me that using my boat was wasting gas and that i needed to learn how to conserve. So I was just wondering if any of you other Phoenix riders out there had experienced similar problems or if you guys are just steering clear of the lake completly.

Just got off the lake. Filled up at the Arco by my house this morning, no line and no problem. There were actually more boats on the lake than I expected. The gas shortage is pretty much over, they temporarily lifted the EPA restriction and were now getting fuel from NM.

We (The Backyard Tour) were passing through Phoenix a few days ago on the way to Nationals - we had just gassed 40 miles west of PHX at $1.48 - but only put in half a tank - heard about the shortage and decided to fill up right outside of PHX ($2.49/gal - reg unleaded)- We did not put anything in the boat (never thought about that angle). 45 minutes in line. Later that night in Flagstaff - no lines - $1.89 - Apparently had to do with a pipe break that was now fixed - I Saw the same thing back in the 70's - all you had to do was hint there might be a shortage and everyone ran to fill up - which created a self-imposed shortage.

I could see how someone could get pissed, but i think it's more hype than truth on the shortage. I havn't had any problems at the gas station fillin up a boat either. You just had some bad luck i guess.

Yeah, and in San Diego gas is now over $2 since "refineries in California are shipping gas to Arizona to help with the shortage". They get to gouge two states with one excuse!

Gas at the Costco by my house has gone from $1.55 to $1.99 in less than 2 weeks. But once Labor Day has passed it'll drop back down to $1.80 and we'll all be happy that is isn't $2.00.

Loosers, if your willing to pay the jacked up price than they should mind their own business. Especailly if you went later in the evening to avoid and not add to any long lines. If it was some kind of National Emergency, or natural disaster, and you were taking badly needed supplies for something like recreation, then I might understand their point of view.

But in this case, what is the worse that can happen? Mr. Older guy can't make it to his lawn bowling tournament because he ran out of gas?!?!?
