Thinking about getting a tatoo, just cant think of anything that has enough meaning to me to get it inked into my flesh. Out of interest, how many have wakeboarding related tatoos, stories or explanations are welcome as well.

I am not about to run out and get a Hyperlite logo tatoo or anything. I just wanted to see what was out there. That half sleeve would have been sick if it worked out. I thought a lot of the pros had tatoos (not that this is my only reason for wanting one), based on what I saw at Toe Jam.

That caw tattoo is easily the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

Just make sure you spell everything correctly:

WW: I'm confused on the spelling of "Valla Con Dios" on your tattoo. Isn't "Go With God" spelled "Vaya Con Dios?" Does is have to do with the double "l" at the end of Randall and Vandall?
RH: (Laughs) "Valla Con Dios" is a phrase I heard for the first time in Brazil when I was filming for NBT [Natural Born Thrillaz]. In Spanish, when there are two l's together like that it sounds like our Y. Valla literally means hurdle, but when used in that phrase it means go...I hope. If not I'm gonna have to bust out the Sharpie and make some corrections (laughs)!

tim, i think everyone on ww knows that you're not a fan of tattoos. why do you keep posting in them?
Old     (timmy)      Join Date: Jul 2001       12-02-2008, 5:30 PM Reply
It is pretty much obligatory to post the caw caw picture in a tattoo thread.

Why do you bother reading my post if you know what it is going to be? haha

sorry dude, but I've never understood the thought process of someone who is set on getting a tattoo but "just can't think of anything meaningful enough". you can light me up if you want, but I've heard it said that that mindset is how tribal art and mighty mouse happens.

you didn't ask but my suggestion would be to figure out what IS meaningful to YOU, and forget what everyone else thinks....you're that one who has to look at it everyday in the mirror.

No worries, that is not my plan at all. Its something I am open to, but I am not going to get something stupid just to say I have a tattoo. As badass as mighty mouse is, its not my thing. Probably wont end up with a wakeboarding tattoo, just thought I would see what is out there.

The Caw Caw tattoo makes me sick, and I've seen it a few to many times, Krutz. Tattoos are probably one of the biggest commitments you can make to something that means something to you, be it a memory, belief, or passion.

I've got one of Martin Luther's crest on the inside of my arm that says 'Faith Alone' around it, meaning we are saved by our faith, and nothing else, and I'm getting one on Friday as a birthday present to myself that says 'No Regrets' on my wrist in script. I think it's the way we should live our life no matter what. I've done a lot of stupid things, I was a teenager, but 99% of the time, there's nothing you can do to change the past so you have to live, learn, and move forward.

As long as it truly means something to you, and isn't influenced by anybody else, then get it. if the guy with the Caw Caw tattoo thinks it means something, that's all that matters, not what I think about it.

You know the Caw Caw tattoo is fake right? Photoshoped years ago and has been the longest running joke on wakeboard tat threads since wakeboarder.com started.

At least it is far more original than a sleeve, tribal arm band, tribute, or tramp stamp.

At least that guy was grammatically correct and put a period after Mr. You aren't cool unless you tattoo the word on your body.

You could take the bad a** quote from your fellow WakeWorlder, Mr. Busby a few posts back...

"99% of the time, there's nothing you can do to change the past"

That's almost as good as "50% of the time, it works every time!"

Just remember your tastes change....Just think back to what you thought was cool when you were 14.

I would reserve tats for profound significant accomplishments that have life long meaning that have enduring timeless symbols. Olympic rings if you make an olympic team, iron man symbol if you successfully bag one, the navy seal symbol, etc. Some occupations or professional schools like law, med, pharmacy will not hire or admit persons with visible tats so if you do get one it should be in a discrete place....The old rule of thumb applies, don't put them any place a judge can see them.

The forearm is a dock with water representing wakeboarding and the top half is mountains for snowboarding.
Disregard the hidious tribal that I mistakingly got got when I was 18. In the process of getting it removed and then covering up.

"iron man symbol if you successfully bag one,"

What does that mean?
And which law or medical schools don't admit people with tatoos? I think educational institutions tend to be pretty liberal.

I am disappointed with how many people think I am stupid enough to get an impulse tattoo. By the time I get one I will have thought it through quite a bit. I like that sleeve though, it looks good.
