A couple of years ago when I bought my computer, I bought the cheapest LCD monitor I could find. Now that I started doing photography and edit the photos, I have a feeling my monitor isn't up to par.

Anyone here have any recommendations? Looking at 20" or 22" and prefer a wide screen monitor.

HP's are supposed to be pretty good for photo editing for the price. Eizo or NEC if you want to spend some$ for the best. Get a spyder 2 to calibrate it with.

Every now and again, Dell will pop a killer deal on a monitor at http://slickdeals.net/

Those ultrasharps from Dell have gotten really good reviews. I don't know why, but I don't like DELL. They somehow convince everyone that Dell is the only computer to buy and charge a heck of a lot of money for them when you can by identical computers with the same internal parts for a fraction of the price.

But the monitors are suppose to be really good. I'm also looking at some of the viewsonic monitors too.

the samsung is fast 22" wide and great quality for editing better than dell or viewsonic

If you are on a budget, hit up Dell's Refurb website. I picked up 2 x 24" widescreens and saved $400-500...

Just a note: One monitor was perfect while the other one had a dead pixel (just lucky it was towards the edge.) Apparently they only swap out monitors if there's 5 or more dead pixels. :-/

They work fine for editing, but I wouldn't use them for any sort of color correction (at least for video).
