I am looking to get a winch, and living near the coast, I would want to take it to the beach and have some sessions in the shallow waters. It would remain attached to the hitch (no chance of putting in the sand). Would the residual splashing off the spool when winding up be too risky/detrimental to the engine? How about even after a proper cleansing? Any insight? Thanks.

I've run at the beach. Awesome Btw! And all I did was hose her off after.
