Well I know most people hate the new pickle fork wakesetter but I just bought one and thought Id share some more images of this thing. I think that its going to be a great boat in the Malibu line up.

I talked to the rep on the phone who set me videos of the wave and wake put out by stock ballast on this thing and I was impressed. He metioned that the boat has all the performance of their other line ups and puts out a larger wave than the VLX/VTX although couldnt say exactly how.

Thats pretty ballsy to order a boat based on pictures. Good luck! Hope the wake is all they claim it to be.

I've been in one and yes the wake looks awesome and the surf wake is nice and clean with stock ballast. I have some pictures that i will try to get up this morning.

Our local Malibu dealer has one and they say the wake is not as nice as the VLX.

I like it and I'm not a pickle fork fan.

I think we're going to try to take one out in a few weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to comment about the wake then. IMO it looks nothing like the rake nose of the X-star. Probably better for rough water, though we never really had much trouble with our Stars.

It's going to take something pretty serious to get us out of our LSV. I absolutely love that boat. I do like having the option of a larger bow area, though. Probably one of the only things I miss from our X-star days.

Malibu is on point. It'll be interesting to see how this boat stacks up to the offerings from the other companies. Both in wake and price-point.

I just inverted the colors here, black where red was - etc. Liked that look.

Need to ride in an LSV. Is it steeper that the X-star? I would like to find a ride that has a slightly narrower and steeper wake than our star and throws a decent wake with 1500-2000 lbs of weight versus 3000 to 4000lbs.

Is it me, or does the ice chest seem to get smaller and smaller, especially in a bigger boat. And yes, that is important.....

yes but the MXZ has two dedicated ice chests so i guess you have to split the feast

I'd say it's more the Malibu X25 than the Malibu XStar. Plus it's hard to compare any new boats to the XStar especially when the 2012 is going to be revealed in the morning.

true shawn, but I am sure when people compare pickle fork boats to the xstar, they are referring to the pickle fork xstar that people have seen, not the one behind the curtain or the small pre 2003 xstar.

I love malibu, but this looks like a cut and paste boat. I think the moomba mojo looks more like a malibu than this does. It definately looks better in white and black, I really dislike how the gel scheme on the side has the stripe on the bow that ends into the rub rail. makes the front end look as if it was transplanted onto a vlx from another boat.

rep told me that they wanted to something like this for a while but wanted to do it right. Many designs were considered and the build had to be from scratch. Might appear this way but doubt it was an after thought. I think it looks like a 70s Eldorado personally think it looks bad ass.

That wave looks pretty sick. Thanks for the pics

That's a pretty small cockpit area in relation to the size of the boat. They should have taken a little away from the bow. Still think the axis looks better, and that hurts me to say

I don't understand trading BOW space over COCKPIT space and it looks like Malibu did exactly this.

My bow is empty 95% of the time. It's primarily only used to "hang out" when we anchor for lunch.

GD, I completely agree. That was always one of my complaints with the X-star. With Malibu you have a choice. You can get the MXZ with a huge bow or you can get the LSV that has the huge cockpit. You could almost play football inside the LSV. It's awesome.

I like the look of the white one. It's clean.

Vision, that's exactly what the LSV wake is. More vert and slightly narrower than the X-star. I love both of those wakes for different reasons. The LSV wake is a booter. The X-star wake allows you to charge as hard as you want and take stuff deep into the flats. Both really fun.

I'm a fan of the MXZ. Not really a pickle fork guy but that Malibu is sick.
I'm gonna have to take one out on a test run next spring

I think one of these just arrived at singleton marine in atlanta. I was there looking at the axis A22 when the truck rolled in. the sales rep said one of the boats on the truck was an MXZ

The wake is getting very good reviews, we just had a crew member on Malibu Crew go out on the MXZ and he is ordering one for next season. With stock ballast and wedge it was better than his loaded VLX. Apparently they have made some changes to the hull from the VLX.

Here are some specs compared to the VLX:

Length 22'3" vs 21"6" VLX
Beam 102" vs 100"
Draft 27" vs 24"
Weight 4000 vs 3550
Fuel 50 gal vs 48
