has anyone made the framing and or canopy for there boat lift?

Check my profile pic. I didn't want to go with a canvas/poly top and had aluminum trusses custom made at Hewitt (less than $1K) and installed the metal roof my self. If you had acces to AL square tubing, could weld AL, and brushed up on a HS geometry class, it would seem like a potential DIY project.

Just as an FYI, on our lake we have resrtictions that are failry strickly enforced. Our city engineering has to sign off on all plans. If the roof is not built correctly it will turn into a sail, and strong winds can easily rip it off.
