Can anyone recommend a alternator shop in Modesto. Will they certify to SAEJ1171 Specs. Thanks in advance.

Try Tunney's marine on 7th st....I have had friends with very good experiences there.

And i've had bad experiences there, it all depends what kind of a day John is having and if he feels like going the extra mile imo. For what it's worth i don't use them anymore.

I ended up going to Modesto Auto on 9th Street. They were recommended by the boat shops. There price was $97.50 for a rebuilt on my alternator. I was in luck I think, the alternator was good, and no charge to me. I hope it is just a battery now. Thanks for your replies

Try DB Electrical on ebay and the web, real good people and fast.

I am surprised you would be willing to have someone rebuild/repair an alternator for that price. A lot of times they just find what is bad and fix it. For about $100 more you can have a Genuine Delco Remy or Prestolite 70-95 amp unit that is brand new.
