SO we mounted up my old, old, old, H.O. Hyperlite Pro today just for kicks. We mounted it with some of last years O'brien System. At first we were rocking a 2.5 inch surf fin. But we quickly changed over to a new school O'brien player fin 0.7 inch. Much better. Here are some pics of us kicking it old school.

I think that everyone should rock a direction board every once in a while. It doesnt even really feel like wakeboarding. Especially with the 16 or so inch stance.

old school indy poke!

Me too I kinda had to force myself to ride it. But man It was fun. I would slap the water so hard when you landed, the phasers make a great sound. I think that everyone should ride on once to remember their roots!

I might have to break out the Neptune viscous fishes. Fill in the phasers and it would probably be a good wake surfer.

Oh my god, you had to bring up the fashion glove factor didn't you Ryan.... Hahaha, just curious did you ever run a bichin nylon vest or did fully pimp yourself with out with one of those plastic covered foam jobbers??? OMG remember those damn things??? Anyways bro, glad to see you on here and miss seein your giant ass mocking "the 5'2" 130 lb. cookie cutter mystique".
Old     (electricsnow)      Join Date: May 2002       10-14-2005, 8:01 AM Reply
Uhh, skibored, I wore one of those foam vests for awhile.(like byerly's at boardstock 1996?) I mean, it's fine and dandy to laugh and what not, but those things actually fit close to your body (there wasn't any extra bulk for tumble turns and such) and they didn't cost 130.00, which was something a 16 year old didn't have at the time....:-)

OK, I'm kind of teasing, but i did really wear one and I did really like it. And even now I refuse to spend 130.00 on a vest, so I have a blue sterns vest with an electric logo paint penned on it. I'd imagine people think I'm lake trash when they first see that vest, so I think it's funny. It's not stereotypically "cool guy" or anything.

Yeah, you can hardly tell what board is in the second pic, but I love the shared memories none the less.

SNOW- I thought you had figured out my drifting sarcasm by now... Hahaha, you're so right on the $$ factor. And hey somewhere in my parents attic lurks a couple of "Hasselhoff inspired" smooth yellow plastic vests so you're not alone.

... Did you say tumble turns??? OMG!
Old     (electricsnow)      Join Date: May 2002       10-15-2005, 6:40 PM Reply
I'm just playing around with you. :-)

Seriously, a tumble turn was one of the first tricks I wanted to learn. I'm going to get all nostalgic, but I remember fishing on lake superior and flipping through my issues of wakeboarding magazine. (You know, you have to let your lures drift behind you. You don't just cast and "reel in the lunkers.") I think it was the april 1995 issue and they had brian holland doing a tumble turn...I thought it was awesome and i wanted that trick badly. How funny. :-)
