Dam that is painful. I know there is nothing you can do on that hand but I always find myself getting more in trouble from the small blind. Becuase I will call for pot odds and then catch a piece and get involved when I shouldn't. Not what happened in your case. Just pointing out that probably if you were not in the small blind or if someone had raised you probably would not have been involved in that hand.

9 out of 10 times I will complete if it's a limped pot, unless the big blind seems to be aggressive and will raise me off every time. I hit monsters in that position quite a bit (mainly because they are concealed hands and I'm pretty good at milking a pot) and the hand above is a prime example.

If I complete and miss, it's easy to get out...I just can't believe he hit a straight flush....so sick...If anything, I was worried about a bigger boat. Either way, when that diamond hit and I was raised, my money was going in.

I have had more royal flushes than straight flushes...I've maybe had 3 straight flushes in the 7-8 years I've been playing hold'em.

I wish I saved all my hand histories...it is just ridiculous how hands play out on poker stars!!! In the same tourney at 75/150 blinds I had QQ in SB...4 limpers and a raise to 1275. I reraised to 2400 and the other guy pushed for about 5k. I had around 20k and insta-called thinking at the worst it was a race with AK. I didn't think he'd have raised so big preflop with AA or KK. Guess what happens....donkey has 88 and spikes an 8 on the flop. Same thing happened earlier when I had AA...guy reraised all-in after I led out with an 8x BB bet after 2 limpers. He had 66 and caught a 6.

Luckily I am usually able to chip up quickly and it gives me a little cushion, but come on...you can only get kicked in the nutz so many times before you turn your back right? LOL

I am going to stick to live games as far as what I risk real (or any sizeable) $$ on, but I figure I'll ocassionally do the low buy-in tourneys with big fields/payouts and hope I am the one that gets lucky some time. Definitely a ton of bullets to dodge in those tourneys, but I figure if it costs me only a few bucks to win a $1,000-2,000, I'm fine with taking a suckout.

I stopped playing on stars because it (beats) got so comical. I agree the people that play online for huge money are hard core. I play usually 4 dollar rush tourneys on full tilt just for fun. Quick and lots of action.

Nope, I am telling the truth. I did cancel my pending cash out and have since lost all of it but 500. I'll going to take what I have left and run.

I had some very rough beats. Lost with AA and KK multiple times to donk straight and flush draws. It's definitely not like real poker IMO.

Aaron, that username you gave me did not exist, so it looked suspicious.

What is your username? I'm interested in seeing your stats..

it's doublea2010. I am not sure why it's showing up.

I can try to get my stats from Stars and will post them.

LOL Paul...that's what I was thinking...

Aaron, I havent checked my stats, but I think I see an average of less than 20% of flops and that is even probably higher than it should be. But, I can justify it because I play pretty aggressively and am pretty good post-flop. I'll play my KQoff like AK or AQ and get people off of their hands a lot of times (even if they have the same hand!). If you aren't comfortable reraising and check-raising based on your reads...tighten up your preflop range of hands...Although...even then you are gonna get the internet suckouts...so who knows...maybe that is the key to being successful online...play everything and hit monsters?

i have less than 2000 hands so of course my stats are going to be high.

I'm very new to PS but it seems like you go on streaks a lot. I had a couple of days where I couldnt lose. After the cash out I went to losing pretty much every hand I stayed in.

Most players' $EV would increase pretty drastically if they were forced to fold or raise from the blinds with no option to call.

Aaron,
Yeah, that user name doesn't work on any tracking site. You're withholding information.

Paul I think I am gonna try your strategy from the SB and see what happens. Only raise or fold no calling and see how that works out. Do you still think EV would increase if i am playing rush tourneys with that strategy?

Barry, which site are you using?

OPR, PPL, SS are the three I tried, when you didn't show up on any of them I knew the user name wasn't correct.

Many hands can beat ya, STOP CRYIN! Pocket J's, Pocket Q's, Pocket 9's, 3-Q...

HA! No sh|t Sherlock...Obviously I didn't have the nuts, but the way the hand was played, my read was right that he had his flush on the turn then when he makes a call where I have him dominated, he hits a 1-outer for a straight flush. One card in the deck and he hits it...If you don't think that's a bad beat, hat's off to ya.

Plus, If he had JJ or QQ and plays decent poker, he'd have raised preflop and I would've been out of the hand.

Dan didn't you know the mighty sam is all knowing? I am sure he is a pro poker player. I like how he points out you don't have the nuts when anyone with a half a brain knows that.

It's all good...I guess my post was meant more for intermediate to advanced players to evaluate. Not someone that points out that a 4 of a kind could possibly have been beat by a straight flush...lol
