Wake at slower speeds (G23)

I am looking seriously at the G23 but am worried it might be too much boat for my young family. I rode behind it at The Boarding School and loved it, but I didn't really get a chance to see how clean the wake is at slower speeds. We have ridden behind the MXZ and loved that it had a clean wake at 17 mph. This is huge for beginners. While I want the biggest wake possible, it might not make sense to pay so much for a boat that is not as functional for my fam. Can anyone share any insight on the G wake at slower speeds?

Shaun had his G23 at TBS?? Thats awesome, thought he was just keepin it at his house.

Maybe IronJ can chime in or take a look over at Planet Nautique. There are several guys over there with the G23.

I have a friend with a g23 and I ride behind it almost every weekend, the wake is pretty clean at low speeds. We have pulled children below 17 mph and still been able to get a clean, but huge wake.

For that kind of cash, I would make the dealer take you out with your family and have everyone ride behind it. Seems risky to me to ask questions like this on a forum for such a huge purchase price.

Yeah, it was pretty sick! He literally picked it up from the factory that morning and drove it to TBS for us to ride. It was the first time he rode it as well. I think it was a one time deal because he said their lake is not insured for that boat. We got lucky!

I agree Travis...I wish it were that easy. Unfortunately where I am, the dealer doesn't even have one in stock. They are so limited right now. The dealership has only had one in stock for two days. It was already sold but they had it on their floor for people to check out prior to delivery.

We've been looking seriously for about a year now and have done a lot of research. We're certainly not making our decision based on some forum responses. Just looking for some real life experiences to add perspective.

Here is a little clip my business partner's daughter did up after her first ride behind the G23 when we visited orlando... Not the best video as it was shot on an Iphone but this was her first few crossings. She rode better behind the G than behind her 210 so we were really suprised. I know it is hard to find a dealer with a G that can demo it right now, we have ordered 12 of them so far and only have one coming through for stock, even our 50hr demo is sold ahead of a Mid November delivery. There are some great boats on the market from all manufacturers, so if you can try to find one for your family to fully test it out...

I've found that I can get a clean wake on mine at about 18 mph. This was with the NCRS at 5 and High, so maybe if you dropped it to 0 and Low you could go even slower. I should clarify that this was a clean wake on both the starboard and port side. You could definitely go slower, but you might start seeing it crumble on one of the sides. I would be sure to demo it though to make sure it's what you want.

Question: is NCRS essentially like taps 2 and convex v?

No, it's a 'wake plate' but it's a different type of system, its not a trim tab.

Tige is a hull that is convex and rockered, the TAPS (tab) tunes the running attitude of the boat, bow up/down which will rise or drop the stern deeper in the water.

I demo'ed the G and had the same concerns (7yo rider).. I found that with no ballast and fiddling with the plate, we could get it REASONABLY clean around 16.. at 18 it was good enough for a better rider to go learn tricks.

The wake at slow speeds is still big.. with no ballast, it's as big as my LSV with stock ballast (as it's about 1500lbs heavier).. but the kid will just have to get used to it.
