I have a new Centurion Enzo 240 with the metcraft (Evolution) tower. To avoid banging my head on the speakers, I don't want to mount speakers in the middle. Using only the factory pre-drilled mounting holes on the sides, what are the "best" tower speakers available?

Thanks for the help.

Are the Wetsounds Pro 60's better than the pro80's?

Also would you suggest one pair or two?

Dale-Pro 80's are 8" driver w/HLCD, Pro 60's are 6.5' driver w/HLCD. Pro 80's are larger therefore hang a little lower. I am pretty sure Wetsounds makes a universal mount (offset) so that you could mount either to the factory location on your Evolution tower. I have Pro 60's on my tower and can vouch that you will hear these perfectly clear at 80' even if you decide to only go with two of them. I have also been hearing good things about the new bullet speakers, but have yet to hear them in person.

Dale - pro60's will give you more headroom but the pro80's are bigger which equals more sound/volume. Also, the more the mo betta.

pro 60's would not be "better" than pro 80's, but they are smaller and i'm sure that they sound terrific. I would think that the Midbase on the 80's would be much better.

Ben, Nice profile pic. which one is the one that you get to annoy for the rest of your life!

Dale,

The PRO 80's are an 8 inch driver and the PRO 60's are a 6.5 inch. So the PRO 80's have more output.

If you are only going to do one pair. Then go for one pair of PRO 80 X's for the bottom locations.

Or

You can go with 2 pairs of PRO 60's. You do one pair of PRO 60X's in the bottom factory locations (60X is the illusion version but the evolution bottom mounts are the same as the illusion) and one pair of PRO 60's with the Evolution adapter plate for the top locations. (as the top locations are different than an illusion and the factory system has them coming off the tower so the adapter plate on the PRO 60 does the same) That is if you decide you can do the center pair.

You can go crazy on it if you want and do 2 pairs of PRO 80X's. All you have to do is drill new holes and through bolt the top pair so you can clear. Hydrotunes in Austin who did our demo boat did a Enzo like that a few months back.

Customer used to have a pair of PRO 485's so he was used to it really loud. So he wanted 4 PRO 80's on the evolution tower, so they made it work.

Really depends on your goals. But I think if you want volume at 80 feet and only want to go on the bottom location. A pair of PRO 80X si the way to go

Tim,
I noticed out at my dealer (boatworks in taylorsville, ky) yesterday that the pro60's have a new look to the inside of the shell as compared to the pro80's on my xstar in 07. Just wondering. I have 4 new pro 80's coming for my 08 xstar. let's see......8 pro 80's in two years...shouldn't I get a Tee shirt or something?

Mike,

e mail me your address! And what size you want

I never sleep. So I am always finding ways to either improve upon what we have or new stuff so I made some changes there.

I am glad that you love the speakers and are a repeat customer. It means a lot to us!

Thanks,

Tim

I ordered the Wet Sounds Pro 80x speakers and will see how one pair works before adding a second set. I'm planning to power them with 300w per speaker using an Alpine amp.

Thanks for the help/advice. I'm looking forward to hearing, first hand, how these sound.
