Was wondering what length was good to wake at. I've been at 85' at 21 mph but it seems really far back at hard to w2w unless you really nail it. Might just be bad technique though.

85' @ 21 seems to far back. My son rides at 70' @ 23. It all depends how much weight in the boat. More weight means faster in our case. A good way to start is to load up the boat and ride till the wake is crisp. Let out the rope out with the handel until the handel is where you think you would like to ride.

On the ;05 Malibu VLX most of us are at like 80-87' @ 22-26 mph

I realize sack weight is a big factor. I'm only running the stock 750lbs in the center and 250lbs in the rear on either side.

21 is really slow for 85 feet of rope. If 21 is your speed, try 75 feet of rope. Only advanced level riders should at 85+ feet. We ride at 75-80 feet at 23-24 mph

yeah Joe has a point too. Most wakes really suck that far back unless you are going fast.
