what is the difference between Polish and wax for cleaning products. I went with star brite marine polish, do i still need wax. Sorry for the stupid question.

Polish removes layers from the finish, Wax adds layers to the finish.

Yes, you still need wax.

when you say removes layers from the finish do you mean the paint, is that BAD??

Very simply put, polish makes it shiny, and wax keeps it shiny.

There are "cleaner waxes" that claim to do both, saving you a step, but I've always preferred to polish and then wax.

I've had good results with the Starbrite, as well as all Meguiar's products.

3M products are great also, in fact they recently bought out Meguiar's, which had been family owned for ever.
