So, What do this boat-
Upload

And this motor have in common???

Upload

THEY ARE BOTH REALLY LOUD!!

The boat has a loud stereo, and the motor is loud cause it was getting broken in to be installed in this boat! Apparently not all of my neighbors have an appreciation for 2000 rpms for half an hour with semi open headers.

All that matters is that the cop that showed up like the way it sounded.

Luke- Looks good bro hurry up and get that thing installed. How did it run? What all did you have to do to get it back running?

Car - just curious about it. Saw a 95 MC PS 190 last year that had been stolen and stripped all the way down to the carpet. it was pretty cheap and I wanted to make a project boat out of it but i never could get a good handle on the engine. just something you had laying around or could you come across another? again just curious...

Luke - that gonna be a ton of power for that boat. should be to put a nasty amount of weight in it. Keep us posted on the install...

This motor was in my SAN and it sucked a valve. I replaced the motor with a brand new pro boss gt-40 and Luke bought the old one and went through it all. Sorry but I don't know of any others around. When you buy a new one you get to keep the old one, no core charge.

Hey CAR, its seems to be running good. My Bro actually broke it in the other afternoon when I was workin late. He's tryin to get it in before we head to Shasta, but its gonna have to wait as we still ned a new shaft and the spark arrestor/air cleaner. We are still not sure if the problem was from the wrong plugs being in it, or some sort of water leaking into the port due to a faulty manifold. There was rust in only that port where the valve had cracked.

The only orginal things are the crank, and rods. Everything else has been replaced. He said it ran great, although the neighbors weren't to happy about it. The cop that showed up loved it though.

With this motor, the newer 1.23:1 tranny and a 4 blade prop, this thing should lift itself out of the water. The EFI will be a nice little addition.

I am thinking install will be right after we get back from Shasta.

Jarrod- Its gotta a little better grind on the cam, and some better components than stock, so it should have more power than a stocker gt40.

There are probably more "almost good" marine motors hanging around than you would think. It's not that uncommon for a dealer to replace a motor under warranty. Nobody likes the idea of a rebuilt motor in a boat less than a year old. When "things happen" the dealers tend to swap the motors and push the old motor in a back corner of their stores. I remember seeing a rack of about a half dozen "almost good" motors in one of the larger dealerships about 10 years ago.

The engine mechanics tend to know where these deals can be found.

Mikeski is dead on, the motors is these boats are "drop-in" setups. Hook the pos and neg up and they are good to go.

Any problems other than what their little computer tells them and its a whole new motor for the boat.

Sounds like a nice combo.

hmmm. i may check at the local shop. not that I need another project, but a project boat would be fun.

sounds like the warrantied engines have something really minor wrong with them. Or could you get burned on it?
Luke - so you guys repalaced the intake manifold and thats it?

oh no, it is completely new inside, pistons, valve train, cam, everything. The exhaust manifold is one thing we suspect to be causing the original issue.

Just bring a socket with you, if you can crank it around it is probably good.
