This morning I pulled out of the 5mph to drive to our riding spot, as I accelerated we heard a loud noise coming from the v-drive/ tranny area and I backed off...it sounded like a bunch of nails being shook in a tin can.
I would accelerate/ take off to about 10mph and the noise was still there. After a few more take off attempts and the noise still being there, I said screw it and went a little faster and the noise went away. The noise was there for the first 30 min of riding then went away, but came back a little later in the day, and went away again.
Last weekend my serpintine belt frayed and I just replaced it, this was the first trip out with the new belt but all looked/worked fine with that....(just thought I'd give a little back round).

Any thoughts as to what the loud noise could be? ...and why it goes away after about the 10 mph mark when the boat gets out of the hole?

Thanks!

Not the same brand motor, but a lot of boats with the 2004-2005 inmar engines had bad damper plates, the symtoms you describe were very similar to mine.

Check planet natique ans see if any of those guys ever had the damper plate fail.

Start by taking a good close look at the prop. Then open the hatch and listen. Do not let it go unresolved as damage is being done.

Not sure if this info helps or not, but I check the tranny fluid and its pretty low -below the 2nd line down (first line is all the way full)...I JUST topped off the tranny fluid 2 weeks ago and have ridden twice since...I took a look at the bildge and it looked pretty oily, pulled the plug and it had red fluid all over it (seemingly tranny fluid)....thoughts? where can the tranny leak from, maybe the low tranny fluid was making the noise?
