Two speedo's

This is probably a ridiculously stupid question, but I have an I/O and am looking into an older SN2001. Why do ski and wakeboard boats have 2 speedo's?

It’s not as prevalent on wake boats as it is on ski boats, but it’s basically a throwback to slalom skiing when absolute accuracy is required through the slalom course.

a boat has to have 2 speedo's to be registered as a "Competition" ski boat -- more/less what dave said...

Both speedos should read the same...that is how you know the boat is going straight. Now that PP has taken over, my SANTE's regular speedo is run to two separate sensors on the transom, with a digital readout on the dash telling me which speedo is reading.

Two speedos has nothing to do with going straight or not. Its all redunduncy. If one fails you have another to fall back on.

Pitot pickups are always getting clogged and pick up weed etc. With two the chances of not being able to read the speed are halved.
