i have a v6 merc...she crunches a little when shifting from neutral to forward...any advice on how to remedy this or reduce it?? i guess its the transmission??
Time for a new lower unit shift cable? Or you can check the "Shift interrupt". It drops the rpms by momentarily killing the engine, allowing for smoother shifts. Your may not be moving enough.
well we have an 82 seaswirl, i dont know what your riding behind but i sure do know that sound!! ours has clunked like that for as long as i can remember and we havent had a problem w/ the tranny. not saying that you wont just my personal exp.
My v8 merc Alpha 1 has since new. It crucnched really loud when hit submerged railroad bridge. They all do, get used to it. If you do not engage reverse quickly enough sounds like a beaver on x chewing through the transom.
